A man who stalked a woman through the streets before knocking her unconscious and raping her in her front yard is expected to spend 25 years behind bars.

Ever L Martinez-Reyes, 24, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, followed a 36-year-old woman through Freeport in Nassau County on September 28, before attacking and raping her.

'He followed her until he felt comfortable enough to assault her,' Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said during a news conference.

'When he assaulted her and knocked her out, he then proceeded to rape her. She woke up and he knocked her out again and viciously continued to assault her.'

Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas said the attack was 'one of the most brutal rapes I've ever seen'.

Martinez-Reyes was caught on surveillance tape, and after images of him were shared online and to media, police received a tip as to his whereabouts.

The 24-year-old first came to America illegally in 2010 aged just 16. He crossed the border illegally again in 2014, and was preparing to head back to his home country just before police caught up with him.

'A tip came in that the individual was ready to flee and go back to El Salvador,' Ryder said.

Since crossing the border in 2014, Martinez-Reyes had been working as a day laborer.

He was arrested on Friday and charged with two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree assault.

The maximum sentence for Martinez-Reyes' charges is 25 years jail.

'If you are a sexual predator in Nassau County, get some therapy or get out of Nassau County,' Laura Curran, Nassau County Executive said.

'If you prey on our vulnerable people here, we will find you, we will arrest you and prosecute you.'

The woman, who has not been identified, is in hospital recovering from internal injuries.

Can we overdose him on chemical castration meds so it's permanent? If not I have an old dull steak knife and a rubber band.

A Roosevelt man was sentenced to 20 years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender upon his release for attacking a Freeport woman last fall when he knocked her unconscious before raping her on her front lawn, prosecutors said.

Ever Martinez-Reyes, 25, will also be supervised for 20 years after completing his time in prison, according to a statement from Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas.
“This defendant showed no mercy when he brutally attacked and sexually assaulted a woman just steps from her front door,” Singas said in the statement. “After an extensive manhunt by our law enforcement partners this defendant was arrested and thanks to my prosecutors this predator will now spend the next 20 years of his life behind bars.”
Martinez-Reyes "can only hope for forgiveness one day," his attorney Joseph LoPiccolo said Thursday night. "He showed remorse and prayed that God would help him and the victim get through each of their paths moving forward. He accepts full responsibility for his actions and will accept his penalty," LoPiccolo said.

Prosecutors said Martinez-Reyes assaulted the woman on Sept. 28, 2018.

Martinez-Reyes is from El Salvador and officials have said he was in the country illegally.
On the day of the 2 a.m. attack last year, authorities said he followed the woman, then 36, knocked her unconscious and dragged her to her front lawn where he repeatedly kicked and punched her in the face before sexually assaulting her. The victim woke up during the assault and Martinez-Reyes ran off, officials said.

Won’t really matter if he’s registered if he’s border hopping back and forth and they can’t keep track of him since he’s illegal.
That's what I said to myself no ICE detainment.. who gives a rats ass about supervision and registration.. except when he finds his back in our country he'll do some more time for not seeing parole officer and not registering.. bam

If someone is required to register as a sex offender, but they are also deported from the country, the latter should not get the off the hook for the former.

If law says, "register", and youve been living for a year or two in mexico or el savador or some other third world, you should be held criminally liable for failing to register. It shouldn't matter that you were forced out of the country. There should be warrants for his arrest for it no matter where he is.
