An 18-year-old Detroit man who committed a sexual assault during a home invasion while dressed as a woman was sentenced Wednesday to 11 to 59 years in prison.
Ethan Mark Carter apologized for his actions and the harm he caused before he was sentenced by Judge James Biernat Jr. at the Macomb County Circuit Court.
Police say Carter -- wearing a long blue and green dress and a head-and-face scarf --
broke into a home Thursday, June 7 2018 and held a knife to the 16-year-old girl and began to sexually assault her, a city official said. He stopped when her mother returned home, a city official said. He fled, exposing himself to a person in the area.
He was captured in a park after police officers flooded the area, forcing the lockdowns of Warren's Fitzgerald High School, Chatterton Middle School, Mound Park and Schofield elementary schools, and Great Oaks Academy.
Carter last month pleaded no contest to one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree home invasion, indecent exposure, prostitution accosting/soliciting, and assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police officer, as well as two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
