Police say Emily Petronella allegedly shot the 34-year-old officer through a back door of a home in the 2700 block of West Potomac Avenue about 7:20 p.m. Saturday.

The officer, part of the Grand Central District tactical unit, was serving Petronella with what Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson described as a “typical” search warrant for “narcotics and illegal weapons.”

According to prosecutor Jennifer Ravin, the officers arrived in marked vehicles, were wearing items identifying them as police and activated their vehicle lights before announcing themselves and knocking on the door.

Petronella is accused of firing a shot through the door, striking the officer in the shoulder, as the police were using a battering ram to try to gain entry, Ravin said.

Petronella was arrested at the scene, where police recovered a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic, a spent cartridge, more than 10,000 grams of cannabis and $950, Ravin said.

Very much like the Cake or Death skit.

Scenario 1: Sit back and let them complete the search. Deny knowing anything about the drugs and money, or the gun. "You're just a girl who lives there, don't know nuthin'." Be arrested and out on a small bond by the next day. See a judge and get a misdemeanor, at most. Life as usual.

Scenario 2: Try to stop a search warrant by shooting at the cops. If you survive the altercation, you'll go to jail. Felony, attempted murder. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. Prison for decades.

What would you like? Ummmm…..death?
