A Florida man was arrested after a hospital reported him to authorities when a three-month-old was admitted to them after sustaining severe injuries.
On March 29, St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office detectives were dispatched to HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital to investigate a suspected child abuse case involving an infant.
According to the sheriff’s office, medical personnel at the HCA had notified them after discovering injuries on the infant that were consistent with recent and past trauma.

The injuries identified by hospital staff included broken and healed rib fractures, a healed fracture of the child’s left lower leg, and an acute torsion fracture of the right upper arm.
Following an extensive investigation, on Friday, an arrest warrant was issued for James Longendyck, 33, for aggravated child abuse causing great bodily harm.

A woman is the second arrest in the disturbing case of a three-month-old baby found with multiple fractures earlier this year.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office (SLCSO) said the case began on March 29, when medical staff at HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital alerted authorities after discovering both fresh and healing fractures on the infant — including a recent arm fracture and older breaks in the ribs and leg. Due to the severity of the injuries, the child was transferred to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach for specialized care and is now in a safe environment.
The sheriff's office said on July 29, 27-year-old Danielle Auro — the baby's mother — was arrested for child neglect. She was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail, following continued investigative efforts by detectives.
St Lucie County Sheriff's Office Detective Jennifer Diaz said at the time of the arrests neither of the parents seemed remorseful.

“The father (Longendyck) had no emotion was more worried about bonding out," Diaz said. "And the mother seemed very aligned with the father knowing of the injuries, but doing nothing to prevent them to her children.”
Sheriff's officials obtained a search warrant on the couples home and discovered cellphones images of bruises to the face of the baby and a 4-year-old non-verbal child with autism.

“They’re not normal injuries that happen from just a normal fall," said Diaz.

Both children are now in the care of their maternal grandmother.
