A 25-year-old Marion man faces multiple charges in connection with the death of his 3-month-old son.
Devin A. O'Daniell is charged with domestic battery, aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery to a child.
Marion police say they responded to a call in which a female said that her child had been abused. Upon the officer's arrival, however, the mother had already left to take the baby to Heartland Regional Medical Center. The father was found walking away from the residence and was taken to the Marion Police Department.
The baby was taken from Marion to Cardinal-Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis, where he died at 4:04 p.m. Monday.
Police did not say how the baby died, and have not named the child.
The mother - identified as Claudia Bolivar on her Facebook account, asks that the family's privacy be respected during this time. The mother wants the public to know her baby's memory is being honored by donating his organs which will be going to save two other children and one adult through Mid-America Transplant in St. Louis. They were to do an honor walk to the operating room with her baby, Tuesday, to harvest the organs.
The mother wants people to know that even though her son's death may have been tragic, he will be living through others and saving lives.
