OK -- An accused child molester from Cushing who was beaten by his alleged victim's father, in whose Stillwater home he had recently been staying, has been jailed on $100,000 bail.
Cornell Maurice Mukes, 38, was arrested by at a home following an anonymous tip that he went there after he was released from the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
Mukes was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon on six counts of lewd acts to a 10-year-old Stillwater boy. The alleged sexual abuse occurred between March 21 and April 9.
Mukes' injuries occurred during a fight between him and the 10-year-old boy's father; he was hospitalized for one day at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center.
Police were sent to the victim's home about 10:30 p.m. April 9 on a report that two men were fighting on the ground. Officers arrested the father for assault and battery, as they could not get him to comply and had to physically pull him and Mukes apart.
The father eventually told police that his son had been sexually molested by Mukes, which led to the altercation.
The boy's father had known Mukes for several years, and after a recent divorce, allowed Mukes to move in with him and his son to split living expenses.
When interviewed at the hospital, Mukes admitted to committing oral sodomy on the juvenile on three separate occasions, as well as committing lewd acts.
