A man and woman in Colorado Springs were arrested for attempted first-degree murder and felony child abuse charges.

The victim was only a few months old when she was taken to the hospital with multiple head injuries, according to arrest papers.

The arrest papers go on to detail what led up to the arrest of 21-year-old Nasair Hall and 20-year-old Lauren Hall. On July 13, police were called to Memorial Central Hospital for an infant with "multiple traumatic injuries."

An ER doctor told the detective the child had injuries that could result in "a substantial risk of death." The injuries were also consistent with non-accidental trauma, according to the arrest papers.

Nasair reportedly told a detective on the night of July 12 he picked up the victim, stepped on a plastic baby feeding bottle and started to fall backward.

"He stated that he lost balance," the arrest affidavit reads. "He pulled [the victim] into his body in attempts to keep control of her and not drop her. He stated as he pulled her body to his, [the victim's] head slipped out of his arms and her head hit the edge of the crib."

Nasair said after the "crib incident" the victim appeared to act normal for several hours and went back to her crib for a nap, despite noticing the victim "projectile" vomiting.

Early in the morning on July 13, Nasair told a detective he then heard a "shrill" while the victim was alone in her crib. When he went to pick her up she went "completely limp." That's when Nasair says they took the infant to the hospital.

When asked about the injuries at the hospital, Nasair stated they may have happened when the victim hit her head on a door frame when Nasair got excited and hit her in the head with a game controller or when the victim fell off a bed.

Lauren offered no other explanations for the injuries other than the "crib incident" and previously bumping the victim's head on a doorway.
Following an interview with both Lauren and Nasair there was "lack of any reasonable explanation of injuries from either of them who place themselves as the only care providers for [the victim.]"

I am worried for this little girls future if she is returned to them or placed with someone from either of their families.

If she grows up to be pretty and has some cognitive limitations she will be at risk for being taken advantage of older men and boys.
