Camren Evans, 35, faces a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child in connection to his death. Her arrest stems from a death investigation of the child who was found unresponsive inside a Tallahassee apartment in January of last year.
Evans is accused of leaving her son in the care of a man who she purchased drugs from, court records allege.
Recent court records indicate an autopsy revealed Evans’s son died in 2023 as a result of ingesting fentanyl.
The 35-year-old mother is facing a charge due to her being “aware that (the man) both kept and sold narcotics from his apartment,” court records allege.
Court records said an interview, conducted with a guest who would occasionally reside in the man’s home, revealed several details about the living conditions and supervision of the child. Court documents said the guest also made the 911 call the day of the 3-year-old’s death.
Court records allege “several unsecured medications” were located around the man’s bed in which the child had accessed and ingested before. About two to three months before the child’s death, court records said the child had pills removed from his mouth after ingesting them.
