A 37-year-old man was arrested for allegedly beating a juvenile girl in the Coastland Center Mall food court after she denied his flirtatious advances.
Naples police responded to the food court on Tuesday around 4 p.m. in reference to a fight in progress.
Bruce Gordon claimed he was eating food when the victim approached him, called him a “bitch” and threw a cup of water on his shirt as he was leaving. Gordon told police he turned around and punched the girl in the face several times in “self-defense” before the victim’s brother hit him with a chair.
A witness told officers he was in line with both the girl and Gordon at Panda Express when Gordon began to flirt with the girl. The witness said the girl told Gordon to leave her alone and Gordon became irate and called her a “bitch.”
The girl allegedly yelled back at Gordon as he was walking back to his table. After everyone was separated, Gordon allegedly stood up and began to punch the girl several times in the face until she was unconscious, then stomped on her as she was laying on the ground not moving.
The witness told officers Gordon continued to kick until a chair was thrown at him.
EMS treated the girl due to a large cut on her eyebrow, a large knot on the back of her head and multiple bruises on her chin and lips.
