Anne Arundel County police believe 25-year-old Brent Faulkner stabbed his mother to death in a home they shared.
They say he tried to make it seem that someone else did the crime, but overwhelming evidence tells a different story.
According to charging documents, Faulkner called 911 to say his mother was dead inside the house.
Police said they were called around 3 p.m. Thursday to the 5200 block of Wasena Avenue in Brooklyn for a reported burglary. The caller told the 911 dispatcher that his mother had been murdered and the burglar ran out of the home.
He had blood on his clothes and hands and numerous cuts on his fingers. He also had a fresh scratch on his face.
His mother had sharp force trauma to her upper body. Faulkner told police he found his mother this way and he saw an unknown suspect flee the home.
Neighbors said Faulkner had mental issues and often fought with his mother. They said they can't believe he's accused though, of murder.
Faulkner is currently being held without bond. He is facing first- and second -degree murder charges.
