Human remains discovered by construction workers in Colorado were identified on Thursday as those of a girl who went missing 34 years ago after performing at a Christmas concert.
The remains of Jonelle Matthews — who was 12 years old when she disappeared in December 1984 — were identified by police just days after construction workers found them while excavating for a pipeline, authorities said.
Jonelle, who would have been 47, was a 7th grader when she disappeared shortly after singing “Jingle Bells” with classmates at a 1984 Christmas concert.
She was last seen at 8 p.m. on Dec. 20, entering her family’s simple ranch-style home.
No one was ever arrested in connection with the disappearance.
