An 18-year-old woman who has advertised herself as a babysitter and nanny on Care.com has been charged with four counts of child pornography possession, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

Victoria Del Carmen, 18, has been booked into the Pierce County Jail on four counts of possessions of depictions of minor children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

The case began when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted deputies to child pornography images being shared to an IP address in unincorporated Pierce County, investigators said.

Detectives searched Del Carmen’s home and found multiple doll parts and a life-like baby doll, as well as large quantities of diapers, pacifiers and baby clothes, according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives said they also seized several electronic devices and found conversations about sexual acts regarding infants and toddlers.

Del Carmen reportedly admitted to detectives that she views and shares images of child pornography on a website that she uses four-10 times per month. She told detectives she is sexually aroused by the images.

An 18-year-old Pierce County woman who advertised herself as a babysitter or nanny was sentenced for possession of child pornography.

Judge Garold Johnson sentenced Victoria Annalise Del Carmen to credit for time served: the day she already spent in jail.

Johnson also sentenced her to 36 months of community custody and to take part in treatment. She’s also required to register as a sex offender.

That was what the defense and prosecution recommended.

Del Carmen pleaded guilty to second-degree child pornography possession last month.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children told detectives that child pornography had been shared to an IP address in the unincorporated county, and detectives traced the IP address to Del Carmen’s home, according to charging papers filed in April.

Del Carmen had been advertising herself as a babysitter or nanny online, and investigators found a life-like baby doll, doll parts, diapers, pacifiers and baby clothes in the bedroom of her Puyallup-area home, the charging papers alleged.

Deputy prosecutor Dru Swaim wrote the court that Del Carmen is a low-risk to re-offend, was a minor when the behavior started, needs mental health treatment and was a victim of past abuse.

Defense attorney Harry Steinmetz told The News Tribune: “We worked out something that probably protects the community the best.”

Steinmetz noted that the sentence means Del Carmen will be supervised by the state Department of Corrections much longer than she would otherwise.

Del Carmen’s family wrote the court that they would support her throughout therapy.

If the family is on board, she receives therapy and possible medication management it is possible that she will not re-offend.

The fact that she will be supervised for a longer period of time is better for the public's safety and her own.

This one is interesting. It's hard to say exactly where pedophilia comes from and how it develops or how and if it can be effectively treated. I have a friend who is a state police trooper who is on the child exploitation task force (not sure if that is the actual name, but you get the idea) she often times does have genuine sympathy for some of the people she busts (not the people that hurt kids but people that have got into CP). It's ok and acceptable to declare you are an addict, alcoholic, etc. and that you need treatment. It's unheard of for someone to declare that they have these evil thoughts or that they got to an evil place in porn. This article alludes to her possibly being abused and influenced by that. I know being abused doesn't make someone a pedophile but it can and does mess you up. I hope with her they truly nipped this in the bud.
