An American woman allegedly threw her 2-month-old daughter from a moving car on the tourist island of Bali and then tried to kill herself by jumping from the vehicle, Indonesian police said Wednesday.

South Denpasar police chief Nyoman Wiarajaya told a news conference that officers haven't been able to question Nicole Stasio because she is hospitalized in a severe state of depression.

A driver and guide who were with 32-year-old Stasio told police she jumped out of the car without warning Tuesday evening at an intersection in Denpasar and they were initially unaware of what had happened to the baby.

Villagers found the infant with severe injuries about a kilometer (less than a mile) from where Stasio leapt out of the vehicle. The baby died about seven hours later at the same hospital, Bali Mandara, where Stasio is being treated.

Wiarajaya said the woman, who was born in California, traveled to Bali with her parents in July. The parents stayed in Bali for about 10 days and Stasio gave birth on the island in September after her parents had left Indonesia.

"She refused to answer when they (the parents) asked about her baby's father," Wiarajaya said, quoting information from the driver and tour guide who accompanied the family since they arrived.

"But she gave the impression that she was unmarried and her family preferred that she give birth to a child abroad, like wanting to avoid something," he said.

I pretty much blame the parents as well for abandoning her in a foriegn country. Having a new baby is stressful enough and Densapar, being a very busy, noisy, frustrating place is essentially a shithole even under the best of circumstances.

She was unmarried and was avoiding something. Well, thats nothing to throw your baby out the window for... I feel the same way when rent is due.

Well, everyone will know she was pregnant out of wedlock now. Perhaps that was the point, she wanted to take herself out, but wanted to get even with her "embarrassed" family.

She's 32. Hardly a child.

Hot mess that loves barebacking.
She had religious shame?
Was she lesbian and could not hide her incubations?
Seems a pity really.

Jpnn.com reports that Nicole Joan Stasio, the 32-year-old American woman who took the life of her 2-month-old daughter by throwing the child from a moving vehicle on Jalan Bypass Ngurah Rai in Sanur on November 19, 2018, has been declared mentally disturbed and deported from Indonesia

Prior to the November incident where the American apparently tried to take both her own life while killing her daughter, Arya Rose, in a car she had ordered to take them to Bali’s airport.

Stasio’s family provided police with evidence showing that woman who had live in Ubud for several months prior to the incident was mentally disturbed.

The head of the Denpasar Police Criminal Division, Police Inspector Hadimastika, said that a diagnosis done by psychiatrists showed that Nicole Stasio was mentally ill somehow connected with family conflicts following her marriage to an American man. “The family brought letters explaining that the woman was mentally ill. If they didn’t have these documents, it would have been impossible for the hospital (in Indonesia) to allow her discharge,” said Hadimastika on Thursday, January 21, 2019.

Hadimastika confirmed that during Stasio’s hospitalization at the Sanglah General Hospital in Denpasar she exhibited signs of mental illness such as difficulties in communicating and frequent occasions when she ran amok.

Arya Rose died at the Bali Mandara Hospital shortly after being flung from the moving vehicle by Stasio. An examination of the child’s body by a medical team at the hospital showed the child was malnourished at the time of its death.
