Police said one of the worst cases of sexual abuse against a child they’ve ever investigated began when the victim came forward and disclosed to an adult at school.
Kevin Bowling, 32, made his first appearance in court Wednesday, while another suspect, his girlfriend, is still on the run.
Bowling faces multiple charges including rape, sodomy and sexual abuse.
"I think this one is as bad as it gets," said Flatwoods Det. Chris Castle.
Bowling was arrested at his home in Flatwoods on March 25, hours after the child told an adult at school, saying Bowling and his girlfriend had abused her multiple times over the last few months.
The victim said on one occasion, they gave her alcohol and marijuana until she passed out. When she woke up, she said both adults were touching her inappropriately.
According to court documents, the day before the victim came forward, Bowling touched the child inappropriately, even as she kicked and fought him off. At the same time, Bowling’s girlfriend told the victim to have sex with him.
Police are searching for his girlfriend who faces similar charges and evaded arrest last week. Detectives believe she could be in Lawrence County, Ohio.
The child is in the care of social services.
