A woman was arrested after police say she left her children in a car to go shopping at Scottsdale Fashion Square Saturday.

Police say Artisha Sheri Dates, 23, left her car full of children to shop for her boyfriend, according to court documents. She left the keys in the ignition.

A Nordstrom employee and another bystander noticed a 2-year-old, 3-year-old and 4-year-old in Dates’ running vehicle playing with the gear shift and lowering the windows.

When police arrived, the children “begged to be held” and the youngest child attempted to run and play in the garage, according to documents. The child had also soiled his diaper and needed a change.

When asked if the children ate, the oldest child said they ate breakfast in a “drug house," documents state.

A store employee and a woman passing by noticed the children in the car, playing with the gear shifter and windows. When the woman walked up to the car, the children immediately got out of the car and climbed into her arms, according to court documents.
