NIZHNY NOVOGOROD, Russia -- A gruesome discovery in an apartment in Russia, the decomposing remains of two dozen women.
It gets worse.
The woman had apparently been dug up from their graves and dressed up as dolls.
The bodies were found in the home of 45-year-old Anatoly Moskvina, by his parents when they returned from their summer home.
Russian media reports that Moskvina kept at least 26 bodies in his small, three-room apartment.

They all belong to females aged between 15 and 26 who died years ago.
Moskvin, a local historian, had a fascination with cemeteries and had visited more than 750 of them, according to the Telegraph.

He visited the cemeteries at night and dug up the bodies with a shovel.
He then put the remains in plastic bags and dragged them to his home.
Once the bodies were in his apartment, Moskvina dressed the bodies up as dolls.
Photos released by Life News showed one skeleton wearing a dress, stockings and other clothing while another body appeared to have been dressed as a teddy bear.
On at least one occasion, Moskvina is believed to have slept in a coffin while on other nights he slept on benches at cemeteries, BNO News reported.
Local residents described Moskvina as a genius, BNO News reported.
They said he speaks 13 languages and has great knowledge of history.

Russian police are investigating a man living with the remains of more than two dozen women who were dug up from their graves.

This guy is like a 'serial killer' without the 'killer' part.

I almost feel a little sorry for him- not as sorry as I feel for the families of the women who's bodies were dug up- but still, that sounds like 1 desperately lonely guy!

I ran that article thru a translator http://translate.google.com/transla...yout=2&eotf=1&u=http://lifenews.ru/news/73866

As usual, it comes out sounding like pigeon English, but the gist of it is that they are charging him and checking his sanity (duh!):

20111107-19.jpg

The final line comes out a bit hilarious: When the old people came from the country, it was almost lost for words to find the house a harem deceased.

Dakota,

I tried decoding the article using my mobile google translator app and it gave me a slightly clearer translation:

Known nekropolista Anatolia Moskvina accused of abusing the bodies of the dead and their burial places. In respect of the Nizhny Novgorod scientist digging deceased body and keep them at home,a criminal case.

Head of proceedings under Article 244 of the Criminal Code,"Outrage over dead bodies and places of burial," -commented in law enforcement.

At the moment the man was arrested and held for examination of sanity. Recall,45-year-old Anatoly Moskvina was taken into custody after his apartment found the bodies of dead women aged 15 to 25 years. Their "guests" master-bedroom apartment in the center of Nizhny Novgorod, dressed in the clothes their parents. When the old people came from the country,it was almost lost for words to find the house a harem deceased.

(Nizhny Novgorod is the name of his town)

ETA: my translation isnt much different, i just see i added some more of the article?

That's exactly what mine said. I just screen shot part of the article I linked to. I still laugh at the "find the house a harem deceased".:pound:

i wonder what they mean by the translation "nekropolista"? could they mean necrophile? i wonder if he had sex or masturbated to them...or if its just some other word based on the latin "necro" for dead

I just assumed that "nekropolista" was the equivalent of "necrophiliac" although it COULD mean one interested in the dead - without the sexual connotation. Who knows? The dude is weird with or without any sex involved.

Well, sounds like something Carl Tanzler would understand. *shudder* Jeffrey Dahmer and Ed Gein too for that matter, after all the dead cannot just get up and leave like the living...:afraid:

Me? I don't. On the other hand, TruTV's Crime Library has an interesting article on the different types of Necrophiles.

Their "guests" master-bedroom apartment in the center of Nizhny Novgorod, dressed in the clothes their parents.

Well, if his parents dress up as dolls and teddy bears then no wonder he turned out weird.

26 bodies, and he had visited over 750 cemeteries . It's a good job his parents came back when they did.

.....

A police video of the man's apartment in the city of Volga River in Nizhny Novgorod shows a gruesome tableau of what looks like dolls -dressed in bright dresses and headscarves, some with their hands and faces appearing to be wrapped in cloth.

Police said they were mummified remains.

They have refused to name the suspect arrested last week but released photographs of him on Monday, giving his age as 45 and describing him as a well-known specialist in the history of the city.

Russian media reports identified the man as Anatoly Moskvin, a 45-year-old historian who was considered the ultimate expert on cemeteries in Nizhny Novgorod, and who had spoken openly about rummaging through cemeteries and studying grave stones to uncover the life stories behind them.

Russian newspaper reports quoted police as saying the man had only selected the remains of young women for his grisly collection.

The arrest followed a long-running investigation into the desecration of graves at several cemeteries in Nizhny Novgorod, police spokeswoman Svetlana Kovylina said. She did not explain how they tracked him down.

The Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper said Moskvin was detained at a cemetery while carrying a bag of bones.

But Kriminalnaya Khronika, an online publication specialising in crime news from the Nizhny Novgorod region, said police investigators discovered the bodies when they visited Moskvin to consult with him about the desecration.

Moskvin, who long had been known in the region for his interest in the dead, wrote several articles about cemeteries in the region.

A linguistic expert by training, he specialised in Celtic culture and studied 13 foreign languages.

In a 2007 interview with the Nizhegorodsky Rabochy newspaper, Moskvin said he had inspected 752 cemeteries, often travelling some 30 kilometres a day by foot.

He said he drank from puddles, spent nights in haystacks or at abandoned farms and once even slept in a coffin readied for a funeral. He said he was repeatedly questioned by police, who then always let him go.

Just last month, he wrote a piece for a publication on necrology to explain his interest in the dead. He said that when he was 12, he came across a funeral procession whose participants forced him to kiss the face of a dead 11-year-old girl. He said he later grew interested in the occult.

Well...he faces 3 MONTHS in jail for all the thievery & desecration

A Russian man arrested on suspicion of stealing 29 skeletons from a local cemetery dressed them up as giant dolls in fancy dress to decorate his apartment, an official said.

Police have arrested Anatoly Moskvin from the central city of Nizhny Novgorod, who reportedly has a PhD and was known locally for his fascination with cemeteries.

"Twenty-eight human-size dolls were found in the 45-year-old Nizhny Novgorod resident's apartment," the spokeswoman of the region's interior ministry Svetlana Kovylina said in a video clip on the ministry's website.

"He made them himself using clothing and mummified human remains stolen from cemeteries.

"Another body was found in his garage."

The shaky police footage shows a small apartment crammed with books and heaps of colourful fabric, with bodies positioned in casual poses among cheap furnishings and oriental rugs.

Police released the video after reporting last Thursday having found 20 skeletons in the man's flat, but delayed the gruesome details until after the public holiday on Friday for Russia's Day of National Unity.

Moskvin, pictured with greying hair and beard and wearing a brown winter coat, is "known in some research circles as a specialist in cemeteries," said the spokeswoman.

A native of the Volga river city and author of several books about cemeteries, Moskvin now faces up to three months in prison.

In an interview to a local journalist several years ago he said he became interested in cemeteries while still a teenage troublemaker, after accidentally witnessing an unusual burial organised by a member of a sect.

He said that when he was 12, he came across a funeral procession whose participants forced him to kiss the face of a dead 11-year-old girl.

I bet that really is why this guy became a necrophile. You have a hormonal, confused 12 yr. old boy and you mix up his first sexual-ish experience with death and that's what you get.
