Two people were arrested Thursday in connection with the Wednesday death of a 1-year-old boy.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a possible dead child. After arriving on scene, officers discovered that an ambulance had already been flagged down. The responding medical personnel pronounced 1-year-old Dontrell Mcclung dead at the scene, according to IMPD.

An autopsy performed Thursday revealed the cause of death to be blunt force trauma.

The child's mother, 19-year-old Kira Fear, was arrested Thursday along with her boyfriend, 21-year-old Tyree Resnover.

After flagging down an ambulance along Keystone, the suspects both told police the child fell down some stairs, but then gave vastly different stories about that alleged accident.

The toddler, Dontrell Mcclung, suffered a fatal skull fracture, leaving his family in disbelief.

Police arrested the child’s 19-year-old mother, Kira Fear, and her 21-year-old boyfriend, Tyree Resnover, for neglect of a dependent.

The arrest affidavit explains that Fear told police she went to get a bottle and her son fell down the stairs, adding she bathed him after he vomited and didn’t notice any marks. The next day she woke up and says the child did not look right.

In a separate interview, Resnover told police he heard the child cry and went to check on him, adding he had to clean up child’s vomit by himself, and then placed him in front of a TV, but he looked lethargic.

Resnover said he didn’t go to the hospital right away because he could not wake Kira up and so he went to bed.

Tyree Resnover of Marion was found guilty Thursday on a single neglect of a dependent resulting in death charge.
At the time, Resnover and 1-year-old Dontrell Mcclung's mom, Kira Fear, claimed the child had fallen down the stairs of their Airbnb.

Detectives said Mcclung had “bruising from head to toe” when he was pronounced dead.
During Mcclung’s autopsy, Dr. John Cavanaugh told investigators that the child had a compression fracture to the skull which was “from Child Abuse, and not from falling down the stairs.” Dr. Cavanaugh also told Craighill that the bruises on Mcclung’s legs were in the patters of fingers or knuckles and the trauma to his head was from “a single, rage incident.”

Prosecutors say a search of Resnover’s phone revealed he had searched “what is a sign of a concussion for a baby."

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office sentenced 25-year-old Tyree Resnover to 38 years for his role in the death of a 1-year-old child.

Resnover was convicted of neglect of a dependent resulting in death after a three-day trial in January.

Kira Fear was sentenced to 16 years in the Indiana Department of Correction after pleading guilty to neglecting a child, resulting in the boy’s death.

On Feb. 20, 2019, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was dispatched on a report of a possible deceased child. When officers arrived, EMS informed them that the child had died. Officers also learned that two adults flagged
The child was identified as 16-month-old Dontrell Mcclung.
