A Marion County woman has been arrested after deputies said she attacked her husband in front of their 9-month-old child.
Deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Department said Amber Gulley, 28, attacked her husband, Jeffery Gulley in a vehicle outside of his apartment on April 8, 2019. Deputies said Amber Gulley struck her husband in the face multiple times with closed fists, causing him to lose several teeth.
Amber and Jeffery Gulley's 9-month-old child was in a car seat between the two during the altercation, according to court documents. Deputies said Jeffery Gulley made his best efforts to shield the infant child from the blows. According to statements from Jeffery Gulley and another passenger in the vehicle, Amber Gulley would have struck her infant child multiple times in the head if Jeffery Gulley had not been shielding the child, deputies said.
Amber Gulley continued a barrage of closed-fist punches even after being begged to stop by Jeffrey Gulley and the other passenger in the vehicle, deputies said. Deputies believe that since Amber Gulley's punches caused her husband to lose teeth, a punch to the infant child's head could have caused serious bodily injury to child, if not fatal, according to court documents.
Deputies said that a few moments later while Amber Gulley and Jeffery Gulley were inside the apartment, Amber Gulley bit her husband on the hand. Amber Gulley then waited in hiding upstairs for Jeffery Gulley to come up, at which point she then ambushed him with a ceramic wax burner and struck him several times in his head, according to a criminal complaint.
Amber Gulley has been charged with child neglect creating risk of injury and malicious wounding, according to court documents.
