DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — An Alabama volunteer firefighter is behind bars after authorities say he solicited an undercover investigator posing as a 14-year-old girl for sex.

According to a press release from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, 21-year-old Aaron Green of Daphne, Ala. was working as a maintenance technician in Panama City on emergency vehicles. He is also a volunteer firefighter in Fairhope, Alabama.

Police say on Wednesday, Green entered a local area chat group on the smartphone app “KIK” asking girls to model in doll clothing.

An undercover investigator from Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded in the chat by replying “LOL,” slang for “laugh out loud,” according to the release.

Police say Green then private messaged the investigator asking if they were interested. When the investigator messaged back and told him she was only 14 years old, he replied, “that’s perfect.”

The conversation carried over until Thursday and then switched to text messaging. Authorities say Green told the investigator, who he then believed to be a 14-year-old girl, that he would travel to pick her up to perform sexual acts with her.

Thursday evening, Green traveled to Walton Road to Wee Care Park where he was met by Walton County sheriff’s Deputies. Green was charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and using a two-way communication device in the commission of a felony.

He was transported and booked into the Walton County Jail.

Why is his membership in a volunteer fire department relevant to the story?
I don't know but maybe they mentioned it because he's around a lot of underage kids being involved as a firefighter?

Also most times they mention job type. Like when a cop does stuff they mention he is a cop?
