A former nanny —
convicted in February of killing an eight-month-old baby girl in 2016 — was sentenced Friday in Prince George’s County, according to State’s Attorney Aisha N. Braveboy.
Authorities say Oluremi Adeleye, 73, was captured on home video unscrewing the lid of Enita Salubi’s bottle and pouring around eight ounces of milk down the infant’s throat in less than 30 seconds, “essentially drowning her” in October 2016. The video also shows the baby going limp and Adeleye rocking her.
After declining a trial by jury, the state’s attorney’s office says Adeleye opted to have her case tried before a judge where she was found guilty of second-degree murder and first-degree and second-degree child abuse.
Adeleye was sentenced to 40 years in prison with all but 15 years suspended in addition to five years supervised probation upon release, the state's attorney's office says.
