Pawsitive Update: 8 Week Old Puppy Found Whimpering In Dumpster (cutie)

A woman had just finished dumping her trash when she heard a whimpering sound from the trash can.

"Her immediate thought and concern was that perhaps it was a baby in the dumpster," Conyers police Sgt. Kim Lucas told Channel 2 Action News.

Instead, it was an 8-week-old puppy.

The pup, nicknamed “Diver,” was malnourished, dehydrated, lethargic and suffering from worms, according to Channel 2.

If she had been found a day later, she might’ve died.

"Who knows if anyone would have come up on the puppy,” Lucas said. “And she couldn't get out of the dumpster.”

Conyers police pulled Diver from the dumpster and took her to a rescue group.

Lori Todd with Walking Home Together Animal Rescue said the small dog is already starting to wag her tail: “I would venture to say in three to four days, once we have the worms out of her body (and) good food in her body, that she will be fine."
