El Paso police charged a 26-year-old man with capital murder in connection with the death of a 5-month-old girl on Friday night.

Police say America Salgado was unresponsive when officers responded to her home. She died at a local hospital, according to the department.

Authorities charged 26-year-old Pedro Favela Salgado in connection with the child's injuries, which they say led to her death. According to the police department, Salgado allegedly failed to call 9-1-1 after the baby became unresponsive.

The 26-year-old was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility with no bond, according to police.

Well if that's not the dad...I'm wondering who thought he was capable of babysitting a 5 month old?
While I understand your point. Everyone should be capable of not killing or inflicting harm on a baby. Sadly, this isn’t the case and is the reason NO ONE besides myself, my mom and dad and my brother have ever watched my little girl. She just turned 7 and I refuse to even let her go with her friends parents. If I’m not there or my parents aren’t, she doesn’t go. I don’t understand these disgusting women allowing strange men they are sleeping with to watch their babies....

Same. I slipped up and trusted their brother's mom. The consequences were catastrophic. Never again

Not everyone is though. Children under the age of 5 require a high level of patience. Especially babies who aren't verbal. Every one of my children have left me completely frazzled at one point or another. I, too, will never understand women who leave their most beloved treasure(s) in the hands of someone that barely knows them. Now that the youngest is 10, he's allowed to sleep over at friends whose parents I know well. But up until those double digit ages....I host the sleepovers.

I wonder how many children are murdered savagely by the dicks their mothers let in the house. We may have lost an entire generation by this time. I say stake him out, give the crowd around him a sock with a can of SPAM in it and let them get it off their chests.
I once saw a guy in Brazil get chased through the streets who had done the dirty deed on a 4 year old little girl. Street justice is so rewarding. Before anyone says anything, he had been caught in the act, and the girl was dead. We're too soft on these ass hats.

Police officers have arrested the mother of an infant who was murdered on Friday.

Pedro Favela Salgado, 26, was arrested and charged with capital murder of the 5-month-old infant.

Michelle Gutierrez was identified as the victim's mother and was arrested on Tuesday.

The infant identified as America Salgado was transported to a local hospital where she died.

Investigators also found a 21-month-old boy at the home with similar injuries as the infants, according to police officials.

The 21-month-old was also transported to the hospital.

On Monday Salgado was rebooked and charged in connection to the injuries the 21-month-old boy sustained in addition to the capital murder charge he is facing for the 5-month-old girl.

Gutierrez who police say is the mother of both children is being charged with injury to a child by omission.

Immigration officials said on Friday that the man accused of killing his 5-month-old daughter is in the country illegally.

Pedro Favela Salgado is from Mexico and is in the U.S. illegally, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

A spokeswoman for ICE said in an emailed statement that on May 4, they issued a detainer to take him into custody at the El Paso County Detention Facility.

Salgado admitted to investigators that he became frustrated with the America Salgado when she was crying as he watched his favorite soccer team on TV, according to his arrest report

According to the arrest report, the baby had visible marks on her lower chin and face area, and near her temple.

Salgado told investigators he had forcefully grabbed the baby’s face and shook her once because he was watching his favorite soccer team play on TV and the baby’s crying was frustrating him, according to the report.

The report states that after feeding the baby a bottle, Salgado left the room to watch the second half of the game and returned after to find the baby not breathing and unresponsive. Salgado told investigators he was unaware if the baby was still breathing after he shook her.

According to the report, Salgado did not call 911 for medical assistance. He instead called his wife, Michelle Gutierrez, to leave work because he had dropped the baby. Gutierrez told police when they first arrived that the baby had fallen out of her stroller and suffocated in a pile of clothes.

Police said Salgado changed his account of the events that lead to the baby’s death multiple times.

Now a pile of clothes has to be added to the killer list of couches, beds, and tubs.
