A 59-year-old Pensacola businessman is being accused of having an “ongoing relationship” with a 12-year-old girl according to an arrest report.
Pensacola Police Department (PPD), responded to a call on Monday, July 29 in reference to an inappropriate relationship between an adult and minor child.
An unidentified person stated in the report, the victim and 59-year-old Clarence Stephen Brown may have been in an ongoing relationship since December 2018.
A woman in the report stated the first inclination of the suspicious relationship between Brown and the victim was sometime before Christmas 2018 when the victim spent the night at Brown’s residence.
According to the report, the victim told the woman she had slept in Brown’s bed and he slept on the couch, but from that time on the victim wasn’t allowed at Brown’s residence.
The report says on May 6, 2019, the victim snuck out of her residence in the middle of the night and while she was being searched for, a neighbor reported seeing a white SUV in the area which stood out to them.
The victim told the woman in the report, she denied meeting anyone and she just went out for a walk; however, it was later discovered Brown drove a white SUV.
The woman told PPD in the report, she was notified by an employee at a school on July 26 that a rumor was going around about the victim being in a relationship “with an older man.”
The woman said in the report, she contacted her phone carrier and “discovered hundreds of phone calls” to Brown’s cell phone from their home phone.
When the woman confronted the victim, she admitted to calling Brown and said they spoke every day, says the report.
Pensacola Police interviewed the victim on July 30 and during the interview, the admitted she calls Brown and advised she loves him and wants to marry him, says the report
The report says the victim denied having any sexual contact with Brown but mentioned she sent him a topless photo to his cellphone.
The investigation revealed Brown admitted he had searched on his phone “which state can a girl get married at 16” and “which state can a girl get married at the earliest age” on July 10, 2019.
Pensacola Police stated in the report Brown professed his love for the victim and wishes to marry her when she turns eighteen.
