A South Carolina woman was found dead in her apartment and police say her 5-year-old daughter is missing.

News outlets report Nevada Lashy Adams has been missing since Monday evening after a relative discovered her mother's body. Nevada is described as a 4-foot-3, 50-pound girl with braided black hair and colored beads.

Sumter Police say they haven't determined how 29-year-old Sharee Bradley died.

A news release from police says 28-year-old Daunte Maurice Johnson was arrested after he was seen running away from the residence. Police say they aren't certain what role Johnson's played in Nevada's disappearance, if any.

The search for a 5-year-old girl whose mother was found slain in her Sumter apartment Monday night has shifted to a recovery effort now that officers think she was killed with her mother by an acquaintance.

Based on information provided Monday by the suspect charged with murder in connection to the death of 29-year-old Sharee Bradley, who was found inside her residence by a family member, Sumter Police Department officers, area law enforcement agencies and other resources searched throughout the night into Tuesday morning. They will continue to search “until the body of Nevaeh Lashy Adams is located,” according to a news release by the department.

“Finding this little girl is first and foremost, and we have and will continue to use every resource available to make that happen,” Sumter Police Chief Russell Roark said in the release. “Our prayers are with the family, and we will continue to assist them throughout this tragic ordeal.”

The suspect, Daunte Maurice Johnson, 28, also known as Daunte Johnson, who is considered transient, was seen fleeing the location where Bradley’s body was found. He was later located by police at a residence in a nearby neighborhood and taken into custody.

During the course of an interview with police, Johnson said he killed Bradley, with whom he was acquainted, and her daughter. He also provided information that could help police locate her, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the police department.

A preliminary investigation by the Sumter County Coroner's Office determined Bradley had been dead for several hours before she was found. Based on information gathered by investigators at the police department, they think Adams was killed during the same timeframe as her mother.

The S.C. Law Enforcement Division was notified about the girl being missing, but because there was no abduction and due to other factors, the case did not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert.

The girl’s name is spelled correctly in this story. It was provided to media incorrect previously.

So did he lie about the location or did he dump her in water or trash? What's taking so long?

If this is another case of Mommy and her new dick then may we all puke regurgitated meals with unholy mixed beverages.

If this was random then our revolving Door Justice is the root cause. This asshole has history.
This is the only reason Capitol Punishment is Justified outside of a Military Court Martial.

Talking about Tribunals, is Slick Willy still a free man? Or why is Obama stomping around free after colluding with foreign and domestic vote manipulation under abuse of power?
Questions worthy of answers. Treason has no statue of limitations.
It's for life. Just like the Oath of Office.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are working together to narrow the search for the body of 5-year-old Nevaeh Adams, who police believe was stabbed to death and put in a dumpster.

Sumter Police are working with state and local agencies and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on a large scale search of the landfill in Richland County off Screaming Eagle Road.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has experts in landfill searches who identified the area that is most likely to have Nevaeh’s body or other evidence related to her murder.

They said it’s possible two trucks were not initially searched in August in the days following the crime.

Police said Waste Management stopped putting new waste in that area as agencies focused the search.

Daunte Johnson, who faces charges of murder in Nevaeh’s death and the death of her mother, Sharee Bradley, told police he killed the child and put her body in a dumpster on the night of Aug. 5.

Police found evidence that backs up that statement. They believe he stabbed the child and Bradley to death.

The body of 5-year-old South Carolina girl Nevaeh Adams was found in a landfill, Sumter police said Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Adams and her mother were both killed over the summer.

Police said DNA testing confirmed the body found was Nevaeh.

More than 400 searchers from 40 different agencies had to sift through around four million pounds of material at the Waste Management-Richland County landfill after authorities decided to relaunch search efforts Sept. 17.

A man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a Sumter five-year-old girl and her mother almost three years ago.

The judge handed down the penalty Friday not long after a jury convicted Daunte Johnson for the 2019 deaths of Sharee Bradley, a former girlfriend, and her daughter Nevaeh Adams. The panel of men and women took about two hours to return guilty verdicts on all counts.
Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty due to a request from the victim's family.
