The prosecutor said in court that DNA proves Rivera is also the father of all of the children that lived in the home.
Prosecutors described horrific details of the living conditions of the four children found in the home alive. They say there is no way he was not aware. The prosecutor quoted a pediatrician as saying this was worst case of extreme neglect she has ever seen./QUOTE]
I've only read half this thread, but my first thought is he didn't want daughters and she's covering for him. Saying she was babysitting and the youngest two were kept separate.she couldn't afford to have them but she had them. Does she not realize that an abortion and birth control are much cheaper than having a baby and keeping them alive in discomfort for years?
Maybe because they had been coached since birth not to tell anything to anyone.
The neighbor had been taking care of the boy so long maybe he just finally felt ok enough with her to ask her for help.
ETA.. the whole thing is just unfathomable, I just read every update with my jaw dropped, I wonder if those kids will ever be even close to ok.
The neighbor had been feeding the boy for ten months.t took only a few hours of normalcy for that kid to figure out where to go for help!
The house was also filled with vermin, so the rats probably gnawed the cords. Was she like walking and dropping them please don't tell me she gnawed through the damn umbilical cords.
This is from the most recent article:Wait this chick was like delivering her own kids in the filthy house with rats and garbage bags and possibly not getting any health care treatment for these kids because you need a birth certificate to get state funded health insurance.
Was she like walking and dropping them please don't tell me she gnawed through the damn umbilical cords.
These poor babies being born onto the cold floor of a filthy bathroom-- and that was only the beginning of the horror they would face in their short lives. Breaks my heart everytime I think about this case.Prosecutors say Murray had five children in seven years, and she wanted to hide her pregnancies because her boyfriend and father of the children didn't want any more kids.
They say she gave birth in a bathroom inside her home, alone and with no medical assistance.

A judge approved Keith Halpern’s request Friday in Worcester Superior Court allowing him to file motions to dismiss the charges against 31-year-old Erika Murray by Oct. 23, the Telegram & Gazette reported Saturday. Halpern is also seeking to suppress some evidence.
Halpern also said he may file a motion seeking funding to hire a forensic anthropologist to assist in Murray’s defense.

Erika Murray, 31, formerly of Blackstone, is being held without bail and faces two counts of murder after prosecutors said two infants, found dead in her squalid Blackstone home last September, had been born alive.
Murray’s lawyer, Keith Halpern said he has received the “last of the commonwealth’s discovery” and intends to file the two motions by Oct. 23.
After the hearing, Halpern declined to comment on the pending motions and did not disclose what evidence he seeks to suppress.
“The press attention isn’t doing her any benefit,” he said. “It’s not like I want to say anything to increase the coverage.”
Halpern is also asking the court for money to hire a forensic anthropologist in addition to the forensic pathologist he has already retained to examine the bones of the three corpses found in the home.
“The examination required in this case really involves a different type of expertise,” Halpern told Judge Janet Kenton-Walker.
The specialist, who would analyze bones of the deceased infants, has not been found yet, Halpern said.
After the hearing, Halpern would not say why a forensic anthropologist would be useful to the case, but the American Board of Forensic Anthropology defines the field as the “application of physical or biological anthropology” to the legal process by examining skeletal remains to assess a the age, sex, ancestry, stature and other unique features of a descendant.
A forensic pathologist, on the other hand, identifies the cause of death.
The subjects in this case are two infants who were born alive and found partially clothed, and another who was stillborn, found with an umbilical cord and placenta still attached, according to prosecutors.
When Murray was indicted and arraigned in December, Halpern had said the evidence against her is too "weak and speculative" for a murder conviction, citing the lack of a cause of death from the state medical examiner.
Why did you have to be so descriptive you just made me cry i'hate people who do'this'''poor babiesAhhh....so, live children were removed 2 weeks ago. I hope to God that the baby had already passed away, and not dying and forgotten, because baby was so weak, it could not cry out for the rescuers.
I really hope they give these monsters the death penaltyNot only the baby from the bed, but a previous article said 2 children were found in a closet. How about that???
WTF?
"Along with the boy, caseworkers also allegedly removed two infants, who were discovered in a closet and had no birth certificate."
How money'hungry can lawyers be to wanna get these bastards charges dropped?!!!!!!!!! You know what ' in all honesty if'i was hired to defend'them'I would do everything in my power to lose the case i would make sure of it !Lawyers want her charges dropped freaking leeches.
Good. Do they have the death penalty there? i only ask because it's 3 babies and they just stored them in the house instead of contacting the proper authorities and handling it in a proper way.[/QUOTE
They need death penalty!
I dont even'understand this 'it is so'hard to understand how people can be like this! Im surprised they had a kid reach the age of 6 monthS old let alone 10 their punishment should be death penalty but no food in prison, dont givem a working toilet and never let em out'of a cell givem rotted food i k this will never happen because the system doesnt work that way but thats the perfext punishmentWorking on dead baby number 4?
http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/n...n-house-of-horrors-mentally-ill-says-attorneyThe lawyer for the Blackstone mother accused of murdering two infants said at a hearing Wednesday that he plans on raising her mental health as an issue to the court.
Erika Murray, 34, faces several charges, including two counts of murder and other child abuse charges.
Her attorney, Keith Halpern, filed several motions and notices recently in Worcester Superior Court, including a motion for funds to hire an expert psychiatric witness and a notice of intention to raise her mental illness as an issue.
That triggers the prosecution’s right to have an independent psychiatric exam performed on Murray. That motion was also filed with no objection from Halpern.
After the hearing, Halpern would not offer an insight into Murray’s mental health, saying only that she’s “mentally ill.”
Authorities found the remains of three infants in her home in September 2014. Two were found partially clothed and another was found still attached to the umbilical cord and placenta. A charge of fetal death concealment out of wedlock relating to the latter infant was dropped.
Two young children - ages 3 years and 5 months - were discovered hidden in bedrooms. They were severely neglected, officials say.
State officials removed two other older children from the home and placed them in state custody.
She’s been without bail since her indictment in December 2014.
A trial date was eyed for the fall, but Halpern said in court that he is beginning a federal trial in November that is expected to last several months.
Now, the trial is scheduled for February 2018, according to court records.
Halpern has repeatedly called Murray’s mental health into question several times in and out of court. He has previously been successful in using the insanity defense, including in 2009 when a jury found Lee Chiero not guilty by reason of insanity after he killed his mother.
Halpern’s motions don’t yet rise to the level of an insanity defense, but he said his filings can be a precursor to such a defense pending the outcome of psychiatric evaluations.
Ramon Rivera, Murray’s boyfriend and father of her seven children - living and dead - also faces several child abuse charges.
Authorities first became aware of the situation in August 2014 when a 10-year-old boy living in the house asked a neighbor how to get a baby to stop crying. The neighbor walked into the house and immediately called authorities.
The home was quickly condemned due to the vermin, trash, filth and feces littering the floors and walls. The two younger children found in upstairs bedrooms may have never left the home, prosecutors say.
Investigators searched the home again in September in search of any documentation of the younger children’s identity when the bodies of the three infants were found in bedroom closets.
The home was demolished in October 2014 and the town seized the property last September due to unpaid taxes.
