The home was condemned two weeks ago. Children were removed at the time. The neighbors said they had never seen the two youngest.
St. Paul Street was blocked off by police on Thursday afternoon as the scene was much more active than it was earlier in the day.
Hazmat teams were seen entering the home at about 3:30 p.m., and District Attorney Joe Early was on scene as well.
“The Blackstone Police Department is working closely with District Attorney Early’s office, to investigate a crime scene,” Blackstone Police Chief Ross A. Atstupenas said.
“We will release more information to the public as soon as we can, but right now, I just want everyone in the community to know that there is no danger, and that they should not be alarmed by the increased police presence in town today.”
Department of Children and Families Director of Public Affairs Cayenne Isaksen said Thursday afternoon that the incident is a part of “an ongoing criminal investigation.”
