The father of a child found by two students walking to school has been located.

Just before 8 a.m. Thursday morning, two students walking to school found a young girl outside in the cold alone near Hope Academy East.

Ms. Sylvia, who works at the school and affectionately known as “Nana”, says she noticed the minor roaming the school grounds during her shift.

“I’ve never seen this baby before,” she said.

The school employee said the girl was wearing just a shirt and a pull up.

“She didn’t know her mom’s name,” Ms. Sylvia said. “She just said ‘mommy, I want my mommy and my daddy’ and she told me that she was cold.”

Police said the child is 2 years old. Around that time this morning in Cleveland, it was 48 degrees.

According to a press release from the Cleveland Police Department, the girl will be released from the hospital into the care of the Department of Children and Family Services.

At this time detectives are still talking to family and no charges have been filed.
