A JUDGE REDUCED HER SENTENCE!!!

BRIGHTON, Colo. — A Colorado judge reduced the sentence for a woman who left her 2-year-old son in a car overnight during a snowstorm, causing him to suffer hypothermia and frostbite.

Adams County District Judge Thomas Ensor on Thursday reduced Nicole Carmon’s prison sentence from eight years to five. She was sentenced in January after pleading guilty to negligent child abuse and attempted first-degree assault.

Investigators say Carmon called police on Dec. 17, 2016 to report that she’d been drinking and “lost” her son. Officers found her car in a mall parking lot. The boy was alone for more than 14 hours as the outside temperature fell to minus 8 degrees.

Prosecutors opposed the reduction, arguing Carmon’s long-standing pattern of neglecting her children demonstrates her character better than any progress she has made while in prison.

This is still showing the 8 year sentence... For those of you who don't know how the Colorado DOC works, this means that if she has remained in jail since Dec 2016 (when this happened) she would most likely be eligible for parole now, or very soon... She does not have to be eligible for or granted parole to be released. She is currently eligible to transfer to a community corrections/ halfway house placement. Meaning, that if she follows the rules and does her program, she could be living in her own place in a year.
