A young boy died Friday morning after police said he was found unresponsive in a bathtub.
Tuscaloosa police, Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue and Northstar responded for a report of a drowning.
When they arrived, they found a 1-year-old boy unresponsive. He was taken to DCH Regional Medical where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities late Friday identified the boy as Omari Jones-Pearce.
Hart said the boy was staying at the apartment with his mother’s boyfriend while she was at work. The boyfriend initially told investigators he noticed the child was lethargic and put him in the bathtub.
He left the water running and walked out of the bathroom for a period of time. When he came back in the bathroom, he noticed the child was almost completely underwater. He attempted CPR while waiting on medical personnel to arrive.
Investigators processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. Hart said authorities developed probable cause to charge the boyfriend with murder. The identified penis is 27-year-old Christopher Cornelius Pearson
