A Utah teen was arrested Saturday in connection to the death of a 16-year-old girl found hanging from a tree.

Tyerell Joe Przybycien, 18, was charged with murder after confessing to investigators that he helped the girl kill herself and recorded the incident, the Deseret News reported.

He told officers he was “suicidal and wanted to watch the victim die to see if it was something he could go through with himself,” according to an affidavit.

On Saturday morning, the girl was found hanging in Maple Lake, Utah, with a receipt for rope purchased by Pryzbycien nearby.

Authorities also recovered a cellphone and handwritten note identifying the girl at the scene. The note also said “if there were any questions to watch the video” on the phone.

Officers said they charged the phone and watched the video, which showed the girl’s final moments.

“You can clearly see the victim with a noose around her neck while standing on a rock,” according to an affidavit. “Przybycien is heard asking the juvenile to say something.”

In the video, the teen girl inhales a large dose of industrial strength air duster, which was later discovered at the scene.

“Przybycien then continues to film this incident on camera for approximately 10 to 11 minutes,” the report said. “Przybycien never offers assistance at anytime, and can be heard asking her to move or say something.”

Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon said the 18-year-old was not captured on video trying to dissuade the girl from taking her life.

“Don’t know if he encouraged her as much as he did not actively discourage her. They talked about it,” Cannon told the Deseret News. “He knew what she intended to do. They went together as he purchased the items she intended to use. And he played an active role in her death.”

Przybycien reportedly returned to the scene while officers were still investigating and confessed his involvement.

He was taken into custody at Utah County Jail, where he is being held on $20,000 bail.

Authorities also recovered a cellphone and handwritten note identifying the girl at the scene. The note also said “if there were any questions to watch the video” on the phone.

So he knew there would be questions then ???

And actually thought this note would be a GOOD ENOUGH explanation ... okay!

I think he's proud of himself and that's why he went back and talked to the cops. Taking credit was more important than getting away with it. Nasty little turd!

More charges.
In addition to charges of murder and desecration of a human body, Tyerell Przybycien, 18, now faces five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in an unrelated case, according to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.

citing court documents, reported the photos are of “girls under 5 years old.”

In addition to child porn, there is also this:

“What you do if you knew a friend was trying to commit suicide,” he allegedly asked in a text message. When the friend texted back, “Talk them out of it,” the investigative documents allege Przybycien replied:

“The thing is i wanna help kill them. it be awesome. seriously im going to help her. Its like getting away with murder! Im so fucked up. I’m seriously not joking. Its going down in about a week or two.”
And this:
“Bro it happened. I helped her do it too and I feel so guilty.”

However, through their investigation, detectives discovered a series of text messages on Przybycien’s phone dating back to April that appeared to show he was excited about aiding in Brown’s suicide, the charging documents state.

In one conversation, according to the documents, Przybycien texted a friend asking what he should do if someone wanted to kill themselves.

“Talk them out of [it],” the friend replied. To which Przybycien allegedly wrote, “The thing is.. I wanna help kill them. It be awesome. Seriously [I’m] going to help her. [It’s] like getting away with murder! [I’m] so f—– up. I’m seriously not joking. [It’s] going down in about a week or two.”

Detectives also allegedly found child pornography on the defendant’s phone, according to testimony at Wednesday’s hearing. Skouson declined to comment on that, pending future charges.

Charging documents show that Brown’s body was found by local turkey hunters on May 6. She was hanging by a noose from a rope tied to a tree in Payson Canyon, Utah.

Przybycien was soon found on a trail nearby, where he was crying, authorities testified on Wednesday, according to the News.

Brown appears to fall and, as her body hangs, Przybycien continues to film while speaking to her, including saying, “Thumbs up if you’re okay,” Skouson tells PEOPLE.

During Wednesday’s preliminary hearing, the court heard how during a police interview, Przybycien admitted he felt remorse over his role in his friend’s death. He also told police that he helped Brown tie her noose and had previously researched how to do so, according to the charging documents.

“I feel guilty. I feel like I did murder her,” he allegedly told investigators, according to police testimony. “I helped her so much.”

Police claim that Przybycien told them Brown confided in him months earlier about wanting to kill herself and in the hours before her death, Przybycien said he picked Brown up from work and drove her to two different stores to purchase the air duster and rope used to tie the noose.

Skouson says that Brown’s last wish was for Przybycien to film her and then deliver a note to her mother that said she had made the decision to kill herself on her own and that she loved her.

A Utah judge is weighing whether to move forward the case for an 18-year-old who is accused of helping a teen girl commit suicide and filming the act.

Tyerell Przybycien is charged in 4th District Court with first-degree felony murder, as well as a misdemeanor count for failure to report a dead body.

Prosecutors say his actions in helping 16-year-old Jchandra Brown plan her hanging death in a wooded area in Payson Canyon in May were criminal.

But Przybycien’s attorneys argue that it was the ultimately the girl’s own choice to commit suicide.

Following an August preliminary hearing, attorneys on Tuesday argued whether there was enough evidence for Judge James Brady to order Przybycien to stand trial on the murder charge.

Przybycien’s attorney Gregory Stewart argued that while his client may have provided the materials for Brown’s suicide, the girl ultimately made the decision to kill herself — and could have changed her mind at any time.

She chose to climb on a makeshift rock pedestal and place the noose around her neck, he argued. And it was her choice, he said, to take a hit from a can of compressed air, which caused her to pass out, slip from the rocks and hang herself.

“Those were actions that she took,” the defense attorney argued.

But prosecutors argued that while Brown was suicidal, she was “malleable and otherwise impressionable.”

Without Przybycien’s help — which included buying the rope, tying a noose and setting up the pedestal for her to stand on — Brown likely would not have died that night, Deputy Utah County Attorney Chad Grunander argued.

In addition, Przybycien deceived Brown, Grunander said, by telling her that he would kill himself after her death.

He also bragged to others before her death that he was going to “help kill” Brown, the prosecutor said in written arguments filed ahead of Tuesday‘s hearing.

“He had a fascination with death,” Grundander argued Tuesday. “… He used her suicidal ideations for his own purposes.”

I think not helping someone who is trying to kill themselves should be criminal but it's not murder. He didn't murder her and should not be charged as such.

Tyerell Przybycien, 19, pleaded guilty to child abuse homicide in Spanish Fork, Utah, on Tuesday as part of a deal with prosecutors in Spanish Fork.

In May 2017, he helped Jchandra Brown, 16, kill herself by buying her the rope she used to hang herself, driving her to the remote location where she did it, tying the noose for her and filming her as placed it around her neck and killed herself.

After she took her last breath, he continued filming and then placed the cell phone which contained the footage at her feet, saying: 'I guess I'll leave this here'.

She was found the next day by a turkey hunter.

Przybycien, who had told friends helping her commit suicide would be 'like getting away with murder', had been facing charges of murder, witness tampering and failing to report a dead body which would have required to him to spend at least 15 years in prison if convicted.

Now, he faces a minimum of five years imprisonment and a maximum of life. Prosecutors have not yet indicated how long a sentence they will seek.

He will be sentenced on December 7.

Tyerell Pryzbycien, 19, helped Jchandra Brown, 16, take her own life in May 2017 by buying her the rope she used to hang herself, driving her to the remote part of Spanish Fork, Utah, where she did it, tying the noose for her and filming her as placed it around her neck and killed herself.

After she took her last breath, he continued filming and then placed the cell phone which contained the footage at her feet, saying: 'I guess I'll leave this here'. She was found the next day by a turkey hunter.

On Friday, a judge gave him the lowest possible sentence - five years - at an emotional hearing where he pleaded with Jchandra's family for their forgiveness.

'I’m also hoping that, although I don’t deserve it, the victim’s family will be able to forgive me for the immature, thoughtless and rash decision,' he told the judge.

Jchandra's mother, Sue Brown, spoke through tears. 'I also want Jchandra to come home, just like they want Tyerell to. But the difference is Jchandra can't,' she said.

Prosecutors argued that Pryzbycien should be put away for a considerable amount of time, claiming Jchandra would never have killed herself if he had not intervened.

They also spoke of material they found on his phone of toddlers being sexually abused and messages where he confessed to being attracted to children.
