An Amber Alert has been issued on Tuesday night for a Colorado teen who police said was taken from a pet store's parking lot by her ex-boyfriend.
The alert was issued around 11pm for 17-year-old Samantha Herrera, who went missing while in the parking lot of the Petsmart at 3720 River Point Pkway.
Police responded to the scene at approximately 5pm after two women yelled for someone to call 911, 9 News reports.
Witnesses told authorities that a teenage girl was trying to get out of her boyfriend's car after the two struggled.
The man was said to have prevented the girl from exiting the car before driving off.
Authorities identified the suspect as 19-year-old Rodney Brown, who is known as being violent, and issued a warrant for his arrest. He is also said to have access to weapons.
The two were last seen in a 2000 white Honda Accord with a Colorado license plate OMB 236. They are believed to be in the northern metropolitan area.
Herrera is said to be 5'6" and has brown eyes with long black hair. She is said to also weigh 100lbs.
The suspect is described as 5'10" and had blue eyes with brown hair. He weighs 150lbs.
It was revealed that a restraining order had already been issued and Brown was to not have contact with Herrera.
Police have indicated that a 2017 blue Nissan Altima with Colorado license plate UOF 493 may also be involved in the incident. The vehicle is said to be registered to an address in Northglenn.
