Sentenced: 15YO Boy Who Weighed Only 70 Pounds Was Starved & Beaten By Marissa Cano

Bexar County Sheriff's deputies arrested a woman in her 30's at her residence Sunday morning after they found evidence of substantial child abuse.

Deputies were dispatched to a local fast food restaurant on Bulverde Road Saturday night to find a 15-year-old boy who needed medical attention. The boy, who weighed just 70 pounds, told authorities that Marissa Monica Cano, 38, was abusing him and his two siblings. He said Cano beat the children with a baseball bat, beat them with her bare hands, frequently locked them in a garage and starved them while they were in her care. The abuse happened "everytime they did something bad," he said.

I will never as long as I live understand how anyone in their right mind could think not feeding a child is a reasonable punishment for ANYTHING. I mean yeah, take away their chocolate or chips or ice cream for a night but withholding meals? It's despicable.

It's horrible that children who are abused like this almost never recover to lead normal lives. That is why abusers like this need to serve life sentences! Since that is exactly what they are giving these children.... a life sentence right along with ripping their childhood away.

I'm thankful he was brave enough to run away and speak up. He is the only reason his siblings might have a chance at a normal life.

Someone always knows, people only talk about doing something after the fact. And some of the kids do grow up to have 'normal' lives. My family has 4 normals and 2 who turned out just as selfish as our parents.

Normal in that we have families, and homes, careers and don't abuse our kids. Normal relative to society but definitely not normal as in heathy well adjusted people.

I told my extended family to never talk to me about what went on when I was a kid, because they could've done something then. Who gives a fuck 30 years later that you want to tell how fucked up my parents were. Bitch, I know, I lived it. My siblings and I suffer to this day from your fucking apathy.

If this woman got any food benefits from the state and didn’t feed the children I think she should be charged with theft! I hope she never gets those children back and she has to spend the next 20 years or so in prison!

I’m really sorry you were failed as a child by the people who are supposed to look out for you. I have a hard time getting close to my husbands family who failed him. They knew, or at least they had an idea and nobody said a damn thing for fear of the wrath that would be inflicted upon them, only difference being they were adults and he was a little kid...
