Two parents have been arrested on allegations that one of them caused multiple bone fractures and possible brain damage to their baby and that they neglected to seek medical care for her injuries.

Tulsa police arrested Thomas L. Calloway, 21, and Ashleigh D. Slack, 20, on Friday after Tulsa County prosecutors filed child neglect charges against them. Calloway was additionally charged with child abuse.

Their 3-month-old daughter was taken to a local hospital for a checkup on Aug. 6, according to a probable cause affidavit. While there, medical personnel discovered that the baby had up to eight bone fractures in her arms, legs and ribs, as well as retinal hemorrhages.

“Brain damage is likely, but the long term effects won’t be known for some time,” Tulsa Police Sgt. Stephen Lamb said in a news release.
Investigators suspect that some of the injuries occurred as early as two months prior to the infant’s checkup.

Physicians at the first hospital sent the child to another hospital. While under hospital care, the infant, whom doctors noted was underweight, rapidly gained weight, according to the affidavit.

Slack, also known as Ashleigh Calloway, told authorities she had noticed the bruising develop in the past months, police reported.
Thomas Calloway initially told investigators that their dog might have caused the infant’s injuries, but he later admitted to forcefully grabbing the infant and shaking her, police said. He also admitted knowing that the baby had been injured but did not seek medical care, police said.

Calloway also admitted to other instances of abuse, police reported.

That guy is 21?! I’d have guessed 45. Ugly loser.

Strap daddys head into a paint shaker and let her rip.
Mommy looks dense as hell and likely doesn't know where babies come from.
Spay her.

Baby is only 3 months old. So they have been breaking the baby all along.
She's a fighter. I hope she makes a full recovery and gets new parents.
These two just need to be in prison.

A Tulsa man is on trial for child abuse and child neglect after doctors say he shook and beat his three-month-old daughter until she had brain damage.

Thomas Calloway is accused of shaking, bruising and even dropping his daughter. A doctor told the jury the infant had fractures in her legs and ribs, bleeding in her eyes, and evidence of brain damage.

In a recorded conversation with police, Calloway initially blamed the injuries on the family's dog but eventually admitted it was a "possibility" he shook his daughter and squeezed her a little too tight.

The doctor also said the baby was extremely underweight and malnourished, but Calloway told police he always fed her until she wouldn't eat anymore.

Calloway and the baby's mother were both charged in the case. Ashleigh Slack pleaded guilty last month to child neglect and was given five years probation.

A jury convicted a Tulsa man of child abuse and neglect following his trial this week.

Thomas Lawrence Calloway, 22, was accused of forcefully grabbing his infant child and shaking her in mid- to late-2018. The infant sustained multiple bone fractures and possible brain damage. A jury convicted Calloway of child abuse and child neglect, a Tulsa County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman said.

The jury recommended Calloway be sentenced 7 years for the abuse conviction and 5 years for the neglect conviction.

Hopefully the baby has healed and found a family that will help them develop to their fullest potential.

Neither of the donors have really been punished for what they did to this baby.
