A Kansas teen who pleaded guilty to murdering his pregnant girlfriend was sentenced to 74 years in prison.
Matthew Criscenzo, 19, fatally shot 20-year-old Naomi Oglesby in May 2025, while she was nine months pregnant with their child, the Wichita Police Department said at the time.
Oglesby died after being taken to the hospital. However, doctors successfully delivered her daughter, according to authorities.
The newborn had seizures and required intubation, suffering "severe" brain trauma due to a lack of oxygen, police said.
KAKE further reported that Oglesby's daughter Zy'nia suffered severe brain damage and struggles to eat and breathe.
"He not only took my sister's life at the young age of 20, but he also permanently altered Zy'nia's life," said Oglesby's sister Ashley Stewart, per KAKE. "Naomi's daughter will never be able to have a normal childhood or adulthood if she miraculously makes it to adulthood."
