Victoria Bluett and Thomas Defee were arrested in May 2023 in North Charleston, South Carolina, and charged with unlawful conduct toward a child after their 7-month-old son was found unresponsive in a bouncy chair and died

The police investigation indicated the parents failed to provide proper care for the child, which resulted in his death.

A toddler was removed from the home with knots on their head. Bluett stated that the toddler may have caused the child's death.

This is Bluett's second child that died.

• The first child, an infant also named Le'Veon Amir Polite, died at one month old on April 6, 2019. This was four years prior to the second incident. The parents listed in the obituary were Victoria Bluett and Londrez Polite.
• The second child, a 7-month-old infant also found unresponsive in a bouncy chair, died in March 2023. In that case, Bluett and Thomas Defee were charged with unlawful conduct toward a child.
