An Anderson County Grand Jury indicted two people on charges of reckless homicide and aggravated abuse in connection to the death of their infant, said the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
In July 2024, ACSO responded to the death of an infant in the Dutch Valley area. The parents, Payton Nikole Bridges and James Gregory Cain Jr., are accused of recklessly killing the infant sometime around July 9, 2024. The two also face two counts of aggravated child abuse on or around the same day.
According to the indictment, the two knowingly abused, neglected and endangered the infant, adversely affecting the child’s health and welfare. It said this was accomplished by “a dangerous instrumentality or controlled substance.”
