Cheerleader, 14, is fighting for her life after a hit-and-run driver, 26, smashed into her while she was riding her bike and kept driving while she was lying on the hood
  • Emma-Mae, 14, has been in critical condition at the Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune City, New Jersey since being hit by a car on Thursday night
  • The teen suffered three skull fractures and a brain hematoma, and as of Sunday was unable to sit up or 'move around too much' without vomiting
  • Prosecutors say Brittany Keifer, 26, fled the scene after slamming into Emma-Mae while driving a black sedan when Emma-Mae was on a bicycle on Thursday
  • Keifer is believed to have driven for some time with Emma-Mae on the hood until she fell off, and Keifer then tried to cover her car with a tarp before driving away
  • Keifer has been charged with assault by auto and leaving the scene of an accident that caused serious bodily injury, and was released on a summons
  • A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help with medical costs

A 14-year-old girl suffered horrific head injuries when a woman driving a black sedan slammed into her while she was on her bicycle on Thursday, then fled the scene, prosecutors say.

The victim, identified as Emma-Mae on a GoFundMe page created to cover her medical costs, was riding with friends in the Borough of Point Pleasant when she was struck by a driver identified by Ocean Beach County Prosecutor's Office as Brittany Keifer, 26.

The cheerleader flew over her handlebars and landed on the hood of the car, but the driver kept going, according to police.

She sustained three skull fractures and a brain hematoma and is in the pediatric intensive care unit at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune City.

Her family said she is in a critical condition and is unable to sit up without vomiting.

Really??? How do you slam into an occupied bicycle, drive a bit with the occupant of that bicycle actually on the hood of your vehicle while trying to flee the scene and when you finally do stop after your young victim has hit the pavement it is only in effort to conceal your vehicle?

Because some people will do anything to save their own ass from arrest and the consequences of their stupidity. I still haven't gotten over the bitch who hit the homeless man who was then embedded in her windshield. She then just went on home and parked her car in the garage. Went in their a few times to see if he was still alive. He was and she didn't do a damned thing.

Good grief! How long did it take for the driver to finish her text and notice she hit a girl on a bike? Someone should have told her the Cloak Of Invisibility she keeps in the car is nothing more than a Harbor Freight tarp.

Look up cheerleader in the dictionary and you will find this child's picture. :D she couldn't look more like a cheerleader if they'd built her from scratch.

I hope she gets better, I know all about that "vomiting when you sit up " thing. It's not pleasant, at all.

Me too. After my second craniotomy I thought the vomiting would never end, it’s a horrible thing to go through. This poor young girl is suffering so much. I hope the driver gets the book thrown at her.

A Point Pleasant woman who struck a female juvenile with her car and fled the scene of the accident will face three years of probation and 50 hours of community service as a result of her guilty plea to the motor vehicle offense.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced on Feb. 14 that Brittany Keifer, 27, had been sentenced earlier in the day by Ocean County Judge Wendel E. Daniels. Due to Keifer’s previously entered guilty plea, she did not receive jail time for leaving the scene of an accident which resulted in a serious bodily injury.
Kyle Ramos, 29, Seaside Heights was Keifer’s co-defendant, and he entered a guilty plea to hindering apprehension or prosecution before Judge Cunningham on Dec. 2, 2019.
