Zar Cha faces a range of serious charges, including fracturing his 14-year-old nephew’s rib and knocking his 8-year-old daughter unconscious after allegedly punching her in the face, Ramsey said. Cha is also accused of pointing a gun at his nephew while threatening to kill him.
Jenny Vang, meanwhile, is charged with abusing the same boy, including allegedly breaking his tooth with a metal spoon and burning him with a spatula on a separate occasion, leaving a visible mark on his body. Vang is facing up to 14 years in prison for her charges, Ramsey said.
In addition to the abuse allegations, both Cha and Vang are charged with attempting to dissuade the victims from reporting the abuse to law enforcement. Ramsey also revealed that Cha has a prior conviction for felony child abuse in Yuba County in 2004.
