The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said the body of a mother who has been missing since Saturday was found early Sunday.
Twenty-five-year-old Lizbeth Arceo Sedano's body was found. Her death is being investigated as suspicious, and her cause of death will be released after further investigation, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office said.
Arceo Sedano's partner, Joshua Gonzalez, was shot by police on Saturday evening.
At 9:19 p.m., Gonzalez was outside the Watsonville Police Department and called the dispatch center, per Watsonville police. He said he was armed with a knife and was going to hurt his 3-year-old daughter.
The first officer at the scene stepped out of their patrol car and asked Gonzalez to drop the knife. He refused and charged at the officer, per police.
That's when the officer opened fire and shot Gonzalez. Gonzalez was taken to an out-of-county trauma center and was in stable condition, per police.
The 3-year-old daughter was unharmed and put in the care of other family members.
