31-year-old Brittany Baily has been arrested for abusing her 3-month-old twin, who were born prematurely.

First responders provided life saving treatment to one of the twins who was not breathing. The child later died at the hospital.

A copy of the probable cause arrest affidavit shows that an investigator with the Department of Family Protective Services noticed injuries to the surviving 3-month-old, which Bailey blamed on her 17-month-old sibling.
During a follow-up, medical officials noted that the infant's injuries were "consistent with child maltreatment."

The child's father later told investigators that Bailey was "too rough" with the infant. He said that whenever he would try to stop her, Bailey would assault him.
During an interview with Bailey on March 21, officials told her the infant's injuries did not align with her story of being caused by the 17-month-old sibling. The affidavit noted that Bailey nodded her head, saying, "mm hmm," and then asked to use the restroom.

She had a 17 month old and also infant twins, that's intense. As a mother of many, my last being a set of twins, I know how incredibly hard the first year can be. But I also understood that when things became overwhelming I needed to step back and regroup, even if for just a few minutes. Given the back-to-back pregnancies and births I do wonder if she had any postpartum depression?

According to an affidavit obtained by KVUE, the Austin Police Department (APD) was called out to The Revl Apartments on March 10 following a report that a 3-month-old child was not breathing after falling off a bed.
When APD arrived, they discovered the infant's twin sister unresponsive on the kitchen floor. That infant was taken to a hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

On March 11, APD said officers conducted a welfare check on the infant who had reportedly fallen off the bed and found the 3-month-old with several injuries, including cuts and bruises to her face.
Bailey allegedly blamed the injuries on her 17-month-old daughter, saying she saw her older daughter playing rough with the infant and throwing a cellphone at her.

Police said the infant was then taken to the hospital where medical staff found injuries to her lips, cheeks and nostrils, along with bruises to her forehead and neck. Upon further examination, they also allegedly found numerous fractures to both legs and possible fractures to her ribs. The infant later died on March 15.
Medical staff stated that the injuries could not have been caused by the infant's 17-month-old sister and that they were "attributable to forces generated by someone with the strength and coordination of an adult," according to the affidavit. The father of the sisters also told police that he allegedly witnessed Bailey being rough with the infant on several occasions, but that she would assault him when he tried to intervene.

Police asked the father to use a doll to demonstrate Bailey's treatment of the infant, which included how Bailey hit the baby with enough force to hear a "thud" during burping, according to the affidavit.

During an interview with police on March 21, Bailey once again allegedly said her 17-month-old daughter was responsible for the injuries to her deceased infant. When confronted by police that her statement did not match the nature of the injuries, she nodded her head in agreement before requesting to use the restroom. Bailey then allegedly left the officers and did not finish the interview.

Texas cops are slamming an Austin judge after the court granted a woman accused of beating her three-month-old a $250 bond so she could be released from jail.

Brittney Bailey, 31, is a free woman despite her March arrest for beating her three-month-old baby girl.

Police are also investigating the death of the infant's twin who was found in the home, but no charges have yet been filed.
Despite the on-going murder investigation, local magistrate Judge Tania Jeffers agreed to lower Bailey's bond to $250.
Additionally, there is nothing in the terms of her bond keeping Bailey from seeing the child is she is accused of abusing.

Bullock called Jeffer's move a 'slap in the face' to cops and the victims in this case.

'You have a small child incapable of communicating, incapable of defending themselves,' he said. 'The only true advocate that they're going to have is the person investigating the case. To see the person who caused the harm released, it's a slap in the face of the officer, not to mention the victim.'

I guess the judge is hoping she gets pregnant with a future victim while she is out on bail.
