Knoxville police responded to a report of a shooting at a house on East Oldham Avenue, where they discovered a wounded man who was pronounced dead at the scene, WATE reported.
Stefen White, 34, had gotten into an argument with the neighbor when the neighbor asked him to pick up his pooch’s poop from their shared area, according to the outlet.

The suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the man in the chest, according to an arrest warrant obtained by the news outlet.
White was charged with second-degree murder.

Stefen White, 35, was sentenced to 21 years without the possibility of parole several months after he was found guilty of murdering his housemate during an argument about cleaning up dog poop.
White refused to clean up after his two dogs, sparking an argument that escalated, authorities said. White pulled out a 9mm handgun and shot Jason Mullen, 51, 3 times in the chest, pausing between each gunshot, evidence showed.

Responding officers attempted to save Mullen's life. He was later pronounced dead.
Defense attorney Dillon Zinser urged Knox County Criminal Court Judge Hector Sanchez to give White a 15-year term, arguing he had no criminal convictions and was afraid he was "going to die" during the confrontation with Mullen.

But prosecutor Debbie Malone told Sanchez that White was thorough in the way he killed Mullen: After the first gunshot, he paused 8-9 seconds, then fired again, paused again and then fired a final, third gunshot, she said.

Malone argued White should get 23 years in prison.
White also spoke for himself in an extended and rambling address that covered his own life, his gratitude for friends and family, his business enterprise, his regret that he killed Mullen, and the dead man's lack of a permanent home and mental health problems.
