It never occurred to me that you'd be on the "Sinking Suspician" boat. In fact, a couple of people who gave emoji were just being polite.
And there may be a few who innocently believe this, without malice.
And then, there are the malicious that will try to convince us to join them in their hate and fear.
My point was and is, many of you are so respected here, when it appears you're agreeing, it is influential.
Nothing you have ever posted leads me to believe that you feel the media is purposely shielding any criminals of any stripe.
However, here at DD, regularly, members post claims that the police and the media won't post their photos or identify Black's, because Black people get "special treatment" and LE and the media don't want us to know they're Black because they're "woke" or afraid of the "woke" pressures, or that it's all run by a liberal cabal, George Soros, "special interests" and George Bush's chefs, who will protect it's agenda at any cost!
Bullshit.
The only thing that might have changed is instead of presenting mostly criminals who are black or Hispanic, what's chosen to be newsworthy is more even handed and representative.
You can't have three stories in a row about POC arrested for shoplifting and one about a white serial killer.
Then report every damn shoplifter, not just every Black shoplifter.

In collaboration with EJI, Global Strategy Group has published a report on the role of racial bias in the media as it pertains to coverage of people prosecuted in the criminal court system.
The data points to racial bias in over 20 different topics surrounding media coverage including the use of imagery, language choices, the framing of the accused and the victim, and reporter background
* Mugshots were used in coverage of 45% of cases involving Black people accused of crimes compared to only 8% of cases involving white defendants
*White victims were nearly four times more likely to be presented in photos with friends and family than Black people victimized by crime
*Media coverage was 50% more likely to refer to white defendants by name as compared to Black defendants.

This study of
95 million pull overs show there is a disparity.
I hope 95 million is a big enough number that any cries of reporting or selection bias, geographical unevenness, or that it's too small of a number to represent anything, should be quelled.

A massive study published in May 2020 of 95 million traffic stops by 56 police agencies between 2011 and 2018 found that while black people were much more likely to be pulled over than whites, the disparity lessens at night, when police are less able to distinguish the race of the driver.
The study also found that blacks were more likely to be searched after a stop, though whites were more likely to be found with illicit drugs.
The darker the sky, the less pronounced the disparity between white and black motorists."
