A Nacogdoches woman has been charged with capital murder in connection with the death of a child, jail records show.

Hanna Ruth Moses, 33, was arrested Friday on a charge of capital murder of a person under 10 years old. The Nacogdoches Police Department arrested her.

Hanna Ruth Moses, 35, has sentenced a woman to life in prison without the possibility of parole for beating her child to death. The child, 19-month-old Thomas Blake Rogers, died in a hospital on June 21st, 2022.

During the trial, investigators testified that the child was born prematurely and developmentally delayed.

Investigators also testified that on May 30th, 2022, the woman called 911 and said that the child was not breathing and that she had been attempting to perform CPR for 30 minutes.

Investigators said officers arrived to find the child unresponsive and his ankles had been bound. He also had bruises all over his body and once at the hospital doctors discovered that he had a significant brain injury with bleeding.
