Maryland police say they made the gruesome discovery of rotting human remains inside the apartment of a man arrested for an apparently unconnected fatal shooting this week.
Torrey Moore, 31, was originally sought in connection with the Dec. 8, 2022, shooting death of a convenience store employee in Silver Spring, Md. Arresting officers with the Montgomery County Department of Police say that when they arrived to make that arrest, they found a dead woman in an “advanced stage of decomposition.”

Moore told detectives that the woman was eight months pregnant when she died and that the two had been in a relationship, police said in a press release. The woman’s body is currently awaiting an autopsy via the Montgomery County Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Details about the deceased woman have yet to be released, police said, because they are waiting to to determine her exact stage of pregnancy, confirm her identity, and notify her next of kin.

The man accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend and a gas station clerk in White Oak was found competent to stand trial.
32-year-old Torrey Moore was arrested in December in connection to the murder of Dash-in gas station clerk, 61-year-old Ayalew Wondimu. At the time of his arrest, while serving a search warrant at the Enclave apartments, officers found Moore’s girlfriend 26-year-old Denise Middleton’s body.
Investigators and the medical examiner’s office determined Middleton was shot multiple times and was 38 weeks pregnant at the time of her murder. An autopsy of her body showed the fetus was viable at the time of her murder and based on the level of decomposition, Middleton had been killed months prior to her discovery. Officials also believe Moore was still living in the apartment alongside Middleton’s body.
Moore told police he and Middleton were in a relationship and the two had an altercation which led to her death. Moore was charged with the murders of the gas station clerk, Middelton, and the unborn child. In December, Moore was ordered to undergo a mental competency evaluation and a judge found him incompetent to stand trial. At a press conference, State’s Attorney John McCarthy said the expert determined More was a danger to himself and to others so his request to be released to pre-trial services during the hearing was denied.

She was so pretty :sorry:

A Maryland man convicted of murdering his pregnant girlfriend, their unborn child and a convenience store clerk likely will spend the rest of his life in prison.

It's the first time someone in Montgomery County has been convicted of killing a viable fetus.
The disturbing case began with a violent killing of a 61-year-old employee at a Maryland convenience store in December 2022. Ayalew Wondimu died after Moore shot him several times, police said.

Torrey Moore, now 34 but 31 at the time of the crime, was charged in that shooting, and a SWAT team was sent to search Moore's apartment across the street hours later.
During the investigation, authorities made a horrifying discovery: the body of 26-year-old Denise Middleton, a pregnant woman, decomposing under a blanket.

Moore and Middleton were in a relationship, and Middleton was eight-and-a-half months pregnant. Family said she had named the unborn baby Ezekiel.

"The child turned out to be the defendant's child," Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy said on Friday, adding that Moore had a history of domestic violence.
Video evidence showed Moore grabbing Middleton in the lobby of the building and pushing her toward the elevator.

Prosecutors said that Moore then shot Middleton inside the apartment they shared in White Oak, and left her there for almost two months, prosecutors said.
Moore was convicted of three counts of first degree murder, and received a sentence of life for each of the three murders. He will also serve an 80-year concurrent sentence for a long list of other charges, McCarthy said.

Moore stayed quiet during the sentencing, offering no explanation for the violent crimes.

"I'd really like to hear why," said Dennis Middleton, Denise's father, at a press conference held after Moore was sentenced.
