A Macomb County mother is to be sentenced Feb. 12 after pleading guilty Tuesday to involuntary manslaughter and other charges in the August death of her 18-month-old son.

Brandee Danielle Wright, 22, of Warren pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, second-degree child abuse and lying to a police officer in a violent crime investigation, according to Macomb County Circuit Court records. She is to provide truthful testimony against her codefendant and boyfriend, William Mark Warren III, who is charged with felony murder and first-degree child abuse in the death, court records show.

Warren, 23, of Detroit, who is not the child's father, has a hearing on several motions filed in his case on Jan. 25.

Wyatt Harris, who represents Wright, said "we've had communications with the Prosecutor's Office to try to resolve the matter." Harris did not say why Wright entered the plea because the matter is pending, but said Wright testified against the codefendant at the preliminary exam.

When asked if he hoped for leniency in sentencing, Harris said: "there's always hope for leniency."

Leniency my ass. I hope she gets the maximum and a smack in the face with the book.
Authorities said Amere Carver suffered severe head trauma and other serious injuries while in Warren’s care Aug. 11 in Clinton Township. Wright returned to the Clinton Township residence where they were staying to find the child limp and unresponsive, authorities said.

The couple, who had been dating for a few months, took the toddler to McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens. Amere was transported to Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, where he died two days later, township police said.

Police did not detail how the fatal assault occurred. They said they believe Wright asked another roommate to help cover up the incident by lying about who had been watching Amere at the time the injuries were sustained, according to a prior news release from the county Prosecutor's Office.

It stated that police also believe that two weeks prior to the fatal assault, a pediatrician saw bruising on Amere’s face, arms and genital area.

When the toddler was admitted to the hospital Aug. 11, doctors found a severe burn to one of his fingers, according to the prosecutor’s office.

I hate my mind for imagining it, but I bet it was a lighter that burned his finger. Bet he was curious about something left in his path, and she "taught him a lesson"

That would be the hottest thing immediately at hand in the average humans life.. Scalding bath water, ovens, flat irons, completely horrible things I've read on here.. Still, my gut says lighter. And that she should pay.

And by book, you mean either iron skillet or aluminum bat, right?

And while this doesn't make it right- in a way, it somehow might make it more wrong in my already screwy brain?- perhaps when people do this, they're just doing what they know.

Was this investigated? Was it reported? Why was the child still in that home if a doctor had already seen bruising to the child's face, arms AND genitals?

Thirty-five minutes is all it took a Macomb County jury to convict a Detroit man in the death of his girlfriend's 18-month-old son last year.

William Warren III, 24, was convicted Wednesday evening of first-degree felony murder and first-degree child abuse in the death of Amere Carver. He is to be sentenced to life in prison Nov. 16.

Wright was dating William Warren III, who is not the child's father, when authorities said her son suffered head trauma and other serious injuries while in Warren's care in August 2015 in Clinton Township. Wright returned to home to find the child limp and unresponsive, authorities said.

The couple, who had been dating for a few months, took the toddler to a hospital. Amere died two days later.

Authorities said they believed Wright asked another roommate to help cover up the incident by lying about who had been watching Amere at the time.

Brandee Danielle Wright was sentenced to a measly 5 to 15 years for her role in Amere's death.

William Mark Warren III did receive a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Assumed he would have appealed his sentence but there is no information stating that he has.
