Sentenced: Woman Pleads Guilty To Killing Boyfriend

A 22-year-old woman says she knew what she was doing when she stabbed her boyfriend during a fight last winter.

Ta Tyana King pleaded guilty Friday to the murder of 23-year-old Jerwarren Jackson, who was killed in a Stratmoor Hills home in January.

King was not in the home when deputies arrived but was later found and arrested on second-degree murder charges. King said in court Friday that the couple had been engaged in a heated fight when Jackson punched her in the face. She then grabbed a knife and stabbed him.

A woman accused of fatally stabbing a man earlier this week in the Stratmoor Hills area said the two had been fighting over her affair with another man, according to court records.

Ta Tyana King, 22, told El Paso County sheriff's deputies her live-in boyfriend, Jerwarren Donterious Jackson, 23, punched her in the face after she told him she'd slept with another man. King - whose mouth appeared bloodied in her booking mugshot - retaliated by stabbing him, she said, but other details in her story changed later, records showed.

King initially said she used a piece of glass from a broken mirror to stab Jackson but later admitted to using a knife. A bloody knife and broken glass were found in her apartment, and surveillance video outside the apartment shows her with a knife in hand as she followed Jackson out of the complex, records said.

When Jackson fell to the ground clutching his abdomen, she reportedly kicked him and told him she "hoped he died." Jackson was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery, but he died about three hours later, records said.

During a search of the apartment, deputies reported finding King's two young children as well as a duffel bag of clothes that also had been stabbed and doused in bleach. King said after Jackson hit her he went to his room and began packing belongings to leave, but they argued over some of the clothes he was taking. She covered the bag in bleach and later admitted to stabbing Jackson once, the report said.

Jackson's family, however, has another theory about why he was killed: he was leaving King to return home to Tallahassee, Florida.

Jackson posted on his Facebook page Tuesday, "Coming Home It's Been A Good Ride!!!" When he clarified he'd be flying home Friday, a friend replied, "Get here safe cuz."
