Deputies are investigating a possible murder-suicide in Paulding County.

The Sheriff’s Office says Brian Miller, 41, shot his wife Kara, 29, and 21-month-old baby Paxton before shooting himself. Police say they were all shot in the head with a handgun.

Family members said they spoke with them Friday, but had not heard from them all weekend. They asked the Sheriff’s Office to perform a welfare check.

"It's just hard. She was a perfect wife and he was a perfect son, and if the dad didn't see that he was missing something," said Britteny Buck.

[...]

“She was the perfect woman. She was a perfect mother. (Paxton was a) sweetheart. That’s all you round it out to be,” said Buck.

Brian Miller’s daughter from a previous marriage spoke only with Channel 2 Action News about what happened. Ashley Miller says she can’t believe what deputies are saying about her dad.

“They're saying that my dad did it, but it doesn't sound like my dad to do something like that. I just want to make sure everybody knows he's not that kind of person,” Miller told Jaglois.

[...]

“That’s why I didn’t see it coming,” she said. “He's very church involved. He's very religious. He's a good dad and he didn't deserve something like this.”

Ashley Miller said she’s pregnant and if it’s a boy, she’ll name him after her father.

Being religious doesn't stop people from killing...
From what I've read and seen on the news, religion generally fuels killing.

What a shame....what a beautiful girl got a feeling jealousy was a factor she was very young why oh why take the baby with you though?

I have a hard time looking at that photo of the baby. Knowing at that moment in time, he was alive, a happy, jovial, innocent toddler. Happy to b with mom and "dad", little fingers in his mouth. :(

IMHO I'm inclined to think he was going through a mid-life crisis, and the age difference probably didn't help. And of course, jealousy. The whole thing is terrible, but the baby...that totally breaks my heart! :( :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I wonder if he killed her because everyone thought she was "perfect". I'm using quotations because none of us are perfect. But, he was a bit older than her, she's pretty, he looks kinda odd to me (can't figure out why, chin's too small or something) and he killed her before she could get a chance to leave. Just a theory.

“That’s why I didn’t see it coming,” she said. “He's very church involved. He's very religious. He's a good dad and he didn't deserve something like this.”
He didn't deserve what? To murder his family? Apparently he thought he did. And that his family deserved to be murdered. Sorry, but all the awesome fathering in the world will not make up for shooting your wife and baby.

If you were to bake the absolute best cookies ever, using only the finest ingredients, and prepared with the finest equipment, having been taught by a multitude of the finest bakers in history, and then added a comparatively (to the other ingredients...) tiny mount of arsenic to the batch, it doesn't matter how great the rest of the cookie could be and/or would be without it. It is now a shitty cookie.
