A teacher at a South Carolina elementary school discovered a loaded handgun on a six-year-old's desk Friday morning.
Police say the boy got the gun from his grandfather's house and brought it to school in his backpack.
"He wanted to shoot zombies," one officer said. "It had nothing to do with threats or anything like that. He just wanted to shoot zombies at school."
No one was injured in the incident.
His grandfather, Kalim Abdul Alawajid, is now charged with unlawful conduct toward a child.
The child's grandfather is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing Saturday morning.

Superintendent Ameca Thomas encouraged parents to check their children’s backpacks before they go to school and engage in conversations about firearm safety. “It is important that parents have an open dialogue with their children about these things, and even at six years old, you would think that was too young, but still, you never know,” Franklin said.
