Back in April 2019 Brienna Craig took a 2-month old baby to the hospital where it was determined that the infant was suffering from shaken baby syndrome. The baby remained paralyzed and in the hospital until March 20 this year when it (gender not specified) died. The M.E. declared the death a homocide, and Craig was changed with first degree murder while engaged in aggravated child abuse. The article doesn't specify that she's the mother, but I think we can presume that she is.

A judge in Florida sentenced a woman to spend the next 15 years behind bars after she admitted to violently shaking her newborn son, leaving the child paralyzed for over a year before he died of his injuries.

Tampa Circuit Court Judge Michael S. Williams reluctantly handed down the lenient sentence to Brienna Craig, 27, for taking out her frustrations on her 7-week-old son in 2019, Tampa Fox affiliate WTVT reported.
Judge Williams said he made sure other members of the family signed off on the terms of the plea agreement before he finalized the deal.

“Tough one to accept, but I’ll accept the plea,” Williams reportedly said during Wednesday’s proceeding.
Assistant State Attorney Jessica O’Connor reportedly told the court that Craig penned a letter explaining how she lost her temper and lashed out at the child because he was crying.

“The defendant admitted the victim would not stop crying that day. She snapped. Everything was an accident,” O’Connor reportedly said.
Under the terms of the agreement, Craig pleaded guilty to reduced charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child and child abuse. In addition to the 15 years, Judge Williams reportedly sentenced Craig to 10 years of post-release probation and ordered her not to have any contact with minors. She will also have to take a parenting class and undergo a psychological evaluation.
The child’s injuries were so severe it was determined that he was paralyzed below the neck.

The baby remained in the hospital until he died from his injuries in March 2020.

An autopsy determined that the infant’s death was a homicide that resulted from him being violently shaken. Following the child’s death, authorities upgraded the charges against Craig to first-degree murder while engaged in aggravated child abuse.

The tears came streaming down her face the moment Brienna Craig realized she was not getting out of jail anytime soon.

The young mom is accused of shaking her 2-month-old baby and causing severe, life-altering injuries.
Prosecutor Lindsey Hodges called this case egregious.

"We have a 7-week-old male victim who is now paralyzed and he’s paralyzed for life because the defendant was annoyed and couldn’t tolerate his crying. She admits to shaking the child," said Hodges.
Friday morning during a bond reduction hearing, Craig’s grandmother, Thelma Clarke tried to show the judge her granddaughter has a softer side.

"She’s very caring, she’s very loving, very understanding, she’s got some medical problems, but we all do. She’s very caring," said Clarke.
Craig explained to the judge, since she’s been in jail for the last eight months, she’s taken a lot of self-help classes.

"I’ve learned about coping with a lot of trauma and everything and just talking and communication," said Craig.

In addition, she promised to keep working on herself if she gets out of jail.
"I’m going to get counseling, medication, just anything I can think of, that’s what I’m going to do," said Craig.

I doubt she evens cares that her baby suffered until he died.

sure doesn't sound like she cared for what her poor baby went through just cried cuz poor her just didn't walk out of court a free woman but has to stay in jail for years ... doesn't matter that her poor baby suffer and would have be paralized for the rest of his life should he have survived just that he dared died and therefor it is his fault she has to be in jail..........
