WFPD detectives arrested 24-year-old Christian Bishop Torrence and 22-year-old Sage Wright for the offense of Injury to a Child, Elderly, or Disable Person. Their bonds were set at $500,000 each.

WFPD spokesman Sgt. Charlie Eipper said officers police responded to the United Regional Emergency Room June 11 to investigate the death of a one-year-old child. The child had been taken to the hospital in a private vehicle where she was pronounced dead.

The WFPD detectives have not received the results of the child’s autopsy and the investigation is pending.

Bishop-Torrence told police he lives with his wife, Wright, and their three children - the victim and two other daughters.

He said he and Wright were at home when a friend came over to give him a ride. He said he went to check on the child and discovered she was gasping for air, taking shallow breaths and he could hear a rattle when she exhaled. He said he rushed her outside to their friend, who gave them a ride to the hospital.
Bishop-Torrence admitted to the officer he knew the victim had been losing weight for the last couple of months but did not seek medical attention for her.

The detective found the victim in the emergency room and noted she appeared to be extremely malnourished and neglected. The victim had dirt plastered to her skin and a physical examination revealed several circular blisters on the child’s body. A doctor told the detective the victim weighed 8 pounds and 8-ounces and said a child her age should have weighed between 22-24 pounds.
During an interview with the detective, Bishop-Torrence confirmed the information given to the police officer and said he noticed the victim had been losing weight around March and admitted he failed to seek medical attention even though she continued to lose weight. He could not tell the detective when the victim last received a medical checkup or treatment because he said his job was to take care of the children and Sage took them to the doctor. He admitted during the interview he, “…f—ked up…” and did not notice the severity of the child’s condition
The detective spoke with the friend who said he has been friends with Bishop-Torrence for years and said they had decided to get some fast food and did not know the victim was sick. He said he sent a text message to Bishop-Torrence from his cellphone while he was in the driveway before he ran out of the house with the victim and told him to take them to the hospital. The friend told the detective he noticed the victim was only clothed in a diaper and appeared to be very emaciated.
During an interview with Wright, she identified herself as the victim’s mother. She told the detective that she noticed the victim began to lose weight in January and told Bishop-Torrence. Wright admitted neither she nor Bishop-Torrence took the victim for medical care. She confessed that Bishop-Torrence never takes the victim for medical treatment and that she was unable to bond with the victim the same way she did with her first two children.
The autopsy performed at the Dallas County Medical Examiner/Southwestern Institute of Forensic Science Office did not identify any acute trauma that would have caused the victim’s death. The autopsy report notes physical finding consistent with neglect.

An assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center conducted a forensic assessment of this case. They noted the victim had been able to eat and gain weight well as evidenced by her recorded weight of 13-pounds at a well-child check on October 12, 2020. However, the doctor noted in the report that they suspected the victim stopped receiving adequate nutrition sometime after October. The doctor wrote, “Even though a small chance exists that a genetic or metabolic problem could cause weight loss, normal newborn screens and the lack of family history would make this highly unlikely.” The doctor continued, “if there had been a medical problem, the victim had likely been wasting away for several months and medical care was never sought.” The doctor noted with current medical therapies, most metabolic and genetic conditions can be managed with diet and therapeutic support.

The detective received medical records pertaining to the victim. A review of the records showed that on June 12, 2020, Wright was instructed by United Regional Heath Care Systems personnel on the safe bathing, safe sleeping, feeding schedule as well as information about wet and dry diapers before she and the child were discharged from the hospital. In addition, the records showed the victim had not been taken in for her 2, 6, 9, or 12-month well-child checks.

The parents of a malnourished one-year-old who died in June are now being charged with capital murder.

Christian Bishop-Torrence and Sage Wright were also both indicted in September on two charges of abandonment of a child and one charge of injury to a child.

Arrest affidavits state the child was brought to an emergency room and was not breathing. Staff there told police that the one-year-old weighed just over eight-and-a-half pounds and had sores and dirt on her skin. A United Regional doctor told police a child at this age should weigh between 22 and 24 pounds.

The affidavits state that Torrence was about to leave his house with a friend when he checked on the child beforehand. He reportedly told officers that he found the child struggling to breathe, and he then had his friend drive them to the hospital.

During the investigation, medical experts told police they believed the child was not getting proper nutrition since likely October of last year.

The affidavits state Torrence told officers that he noticed in March of 2020 that the child had been losing weight. In a separate interview, Wright reportedly told officers that she had made Torrence aware of the problem in January 2020.

Sage and Torrence both admitted to investigators that they failed to seek medical attention for the child as she continued to lose weight.

After pulling medical records, investigators found that the child was not taken for her 2 month, 6 month, 9 month nor 12 month wellness checks, and a medical expert told police the child likely stopped receiving adequate nutrition sometime after October of 2020.

According to the affidavits, the child’s autopsy report stated there was no acute trauma that would have caused the death, but there were physical findings consistent with neglect.

A Texas couple has been indicted for allegedly starving their 1-year-old daughter to death, newspaper reports indicate.
According to jail records reviewed by Law&Crime, Sage Angel Rose Wright, 22, and Christian Miguel Bishop-Torrence, 25, were booked into the Wichita County Jail on June 18, 2021. Both were charged by prosecutors with one count of causing injury to a child, two counts of abandoning or endangering a child, and one count of capital murder, the jail records indicate. Those records say both defendants are each being held on a $1 million bond on the capital murder count alone. Additional bond amounts of $500,000, $50,000, and $50,000 were listed for the other counts, respectively.

A grand jury on Jan. 5, 2022 proceeded to indict the couple on one count each of capital murder, according to court records obtained by the Wichita Falls, Texas Times Record News. The count carries a possible punishment of the death penalty or life without parole, depending how future proceedings play out.

A grand jury previously indicted the couple on the other counts back on Sept. 15, 2021, the newspaper said.

Georgia Bishop-Torrence, 1, died on June 11, 2021 at a local hospital, the newspaper reported, again citing court records.
Christian Bishop-Torrence allegedly told emergency room staffers that the girl “wasn’t breathing and was unresponsive,” the newspaper explained. The emergency room staff took Georgia to a trauma room but could not resuscitate her. She was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m., according to court records cited by the newspaper.

“Medical staff told a Wichita Falls police officer the baby had sores on her body and was severely malnourished,” the newspaper added. “An investigator arrived at about 12:46 a.m. June 12 and saw that the child appeared neglected and malnourished. She was dirty and blistered.”
The child had apparently been losing weight for some time, but medical care was not sought, the court documents reportedly indicate. Christian Bishop-Torrence told investigators that he “(expletive) up,” but it’s unclear from the newspaper reporting what expletive he uttered.
Bishop-Torrence said Georgia began losing weight in March, but Wright said the girl had been losing weight since January. Wright reportedly told investigators she struggled to bond with the baby. Wright has two other children, the reports indicate.
An autopsy report cited by the Times Record News indicates that Georgia weighed less when she died than she did when she was born. A doctor reportedly told the authorities that the girl weighed “8 pounds and 8 ounces but should have weighed 22 to 24 pounds,” the newspaper said while recapping the case file.
According to jail records, defendant Wright weighs 381 pounds; defendant Bishop-Torrence weighs 375 pounds.

As Law&Crime noted last summer, a forensic examiner preemptively rubbished any possible suggestion that the child’s weight loss was the result of “a genetic or metabolic problem.”

“[N]ormal newborn screens and the lack of family history would make this highly unlikely,” Dr. Suzanne Dakil of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center wrote in a report.

Looking at the chronic parade of subhuman reproducers at DD and elsewhere, I'm inclined to dismiss the concept of "incel". There seems to be no magnitude of sexual repugnance that precludes sexual opportunity.

Make an example of some of these bio-donors and watch how quickly these baby killers will start using the safe haven for children.

While you can surrender a child to the state at any age it still would make sense to extend the age in which a child can be dropped off at a police station, fire station and or hospital without there being any repercussions for the parent (s).

I also think if you gave a few more baby beaters the DP more would decline looking after the kids of whoever they are currently nutting in.

They simply did not care to notice or feed or bathe or clothe her, out of sight, out of mind. She most likely starved to death, while the "parents" ate like it was going out of style.
You're absolutely right, parents who starve their children usually are plus sized. Not in every case, but often enough to be obvious. Food can have symbolic value, and I think one's relationship with food can be a symptom of mental illness. They almost needed a tarp to drape this woman for her mug shot.

One of two parents charged with capital murder after their 1-year-old died from malnutrition and negligence is headed to prison.

Christian Miguel Bishop-Torrence, 25, of Wichita Falls, pleaded guilty to one count of felony murder and two counts of endangering a child on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, in the 78th District Court. He was sentenced to life in prison on the murder charge with 671 days of jail credit.

The sentence for the two counts of endangerment of a child was 671 days for each, with the three sentences set to run concurrently. A charge of injury to a child with intent to cause serious bodily injury was dismissed.

Sage Angel Rose Wright on Friday pleaded guilty to murder in the starvation death of her 1-year-old daughter.Seventy-eighth District Judge Meredith Kennedy sentenced her to life in prison.
Christian Bishop Torrence pleaded guilty to murder in April and was sentenced to life in prison.

The couple also pleaded guilty to charges of injury to a child and abandoning or endangering a child. Both parents will be eligible for parole.
